Enjoy Electronics The Godfather module

Just to keep anyone interested up to date:
I am still unable to midi sync GF properly even with FW 1.6. It’s a shame really.

You have to keep in mind that this is Italian sync and not Swiss sync

hi, what did you have to do to resuscitate your GF? mine is stuck on the exact same light show after trying to update :frowning:

Out of frustration, I turned the Godfather off and started the updateprocess a secound time a little while later. My recollection is vage, but I think there was a secound program which needed to be installed. That happend, on my secound try.

I think it had to do with the pop-up window and the Daisy Bootloader.

Good luck…

seems to be working now, not sure how I did it though!

p/s does it really only go down as low as 90BPM? can’t seem to change it lower than that

There’s a setting in the menu where you can set the lowest possible bpm down to 45. Should go down even further if you ask me but hey.

Found it, thanks! Wonder what the reasoning was to stash a secondary BPM page in the settings menu.

Yeah doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Maybe because they added lower bpm settings in a fw update some time ago but still why have it a menu option…

Is there a way to save these BPM settings once changed? Seems a bit of an oversight if not! I looked in the manual but was none the wiser. I realise you can save presets, but I would like these settings to be retained automatically following the next boot up.

I guess the Bpm setting including bpm range is saved with each preset.

Is the midi sync issue fixed on these yet? I’m tempted once again. Use case would be for crave, edge and a digi box of choice.

No, still (!) no reliable midi sync with godfather yet (only tested GF as slave).
No idea how hard it is to Programm but it’s really frustrating…

PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW!

If they ever fix these bugs I will sell most of my remaining FX pedals and buy one of these immediately.

I guess you will never face that problem…

Maybe midi sync hasn’t be improved yet but what about midi control changes ? Is it ok ?
I can live with an analog clock Sync but reliable midi control changes are essentials to me.
Thanks

Haven´t ever used midi CC with GodFather and won´t have the time in the near future to run tests.
In fact, I’ve put the GodFather and my whole Moog Sound Studio 3 up for sale to afford a Solar 42f - which I already ordered  I like the idea of just having one instrument and just one reason to have it - that is doing meditative ambient improvisations.
And for anything else, I´m still more than happy with my DT+DN(keys) combo.

Thanks for your reply ! Solar 42 is a great instrument. You won’t regret
Still want to know more about Godfather midi CC though.

What exactly do u wanna know? Maybe I’ll find the time to check someday.

I just want to know if it’s works flawessly. I know Enjoy Electronics never finished the Reminder firmware on this point (there should be a beta one which has to be tested since years ago now but…)

Thanks

Oh boy I just realised that midi sync doesn’t necessarily mean the same to me than it does to others.
Over on Facebook I asked enjoy electronics to get midi sync working where Simon (from enjoy electronics) chimed in. Turns out that my use case of “midi sync” is somewhat special: I want to use GF as a midi to cv clock interface by syncing GF to digitakt via midi and then go from GF clock out into my moog system. This doesn’t work as intended yet, as the clock out goes out of sync after some cycles.
If you just want to sync GF’s delay speeds to a midi clock, this should already work fine (as slight variations don’t really matter here).
