Dreadbox Erebus

I believe it does output cv and gate from midi input. Haven’t tested this extensively. It doesn’t translate midi clock to the clock rate or lfo unfortunately but it does except mod input. Need to experiment more with that.

Video focusing on the Triple Ring

I ended up getting an Erebus v3. I am super happy with it so far. It sounds great at every damn setting.

I wish the patch bay was a bit more inspiring and useful though. It’s a bit bizarre to be honest. And more midi functionality wouldn’t hurt. But I knew about that beforehand and it still sounds great so I can’t complain.

I’m sure I’ll end up with a nyx as well some day in the future.

I‘m waking up this thread to share my customer experience with Dreadbox:

I had a 4-year old Dreadbox Erebus (v2) malfunction suddenly (I suspect a power surge). I wrote the Dreadbox Support team and explained the issue to them while asking them kindly if they would consider fixing my box for a fee.

They wrote back a day later and asked for a video of the issue. So I sent one to them. Shortly after they got back to me and told me that I‘d have to send the synth in and they‘d fix it for me.

Today I received my synth back in the mail and the thing works as new and sounds as phenomenal as I remember.

What is more, Dreadbox did not charge me for the repair or the return shipping…which I find INCREDIBLY generous of them!

I feel this deserves explicit kudos, as I find this sort of service and generosity extremely rare nowadays.

So, support Dreadbox people, I myself will def continue to do so

Wow, kudos to them! And to you for taking the time to report :ok_hand:

I’ve had a few great experiences with Dreadbox too. Even when I contacted them about a Medusa issue they promptly and politely let me know that Polyend was in charge of support for the synth.

On a side note, Polyend was also very cool and helpful. They kindly replaced my first Medusa even though I bought it used and it was no longer under warranty. I definitely wasn’t expecting that!

On a 2nd side note, I just received a Erebus v3 and I’m loving it alongside my Medusa, Nyx v2 and Typhon. Abyss was my 1st DB synth and I traded it like a chump.

I’ve long wanted an abyss. I had a nyx 2 and let it go for some reason, but recently got a erebus 2 and the tone is amazing. Big low end too.

Just noticed that Signal Sounds in the UK has two Dreadbox Erebus v3 - they’re discontinued and I haven’t seen them stocked anywhere for a while. Thought I’d mention in case anyone was interested…

Not sure if everyone’s seen the kits already, they were shown at Superbooth so not hot off the press, but they’re available to buy next month!

I’m probably getting an Erebus but the Hades sound demos have always floored me it’s so damn juicy - I fear I might buy both if the price is as good as hinted.

I had an Erebus v3 for a while and ended up selling it, but have always kind of regretted it, great synths. I plan to mount mine in the eurorack, replacing my current dual osc voice.

Those look dope as hell… always wanted the original Hades.

Ive recently built the Dysmetria which is a full kit.

This might matter to some: The Erebus and Hades kits are partially pre built, the main board is all done for you. All thats left is pots jacks etc.

I was looking at the dreadbox kit, then I realised my SV1 is essentially the same thing.

:rotating_light: Kits are currently available (limited so act fast!)

I nabbed an Erebus - passed on the Hades in the end no doubt I’ll regret not just buying both…

They’re a fair bit cheaper than the built units, very simple build and it looks like the built ones are now available in December, so pushed back.

Yeah, I have an SV-1 which I always look at to remind myself that I don’t need most other 2-osc patchable monosynths - and I’ve got a lil’Erebus and the first version of the DIY Hades kit in my rack anyway. Oh, and an Erebus v2…

I do want a Dysmetria one day though.

Did you happen to notice anywhere if they mention if the built units will be limited also? Or is the kit version the part that is limited edition

I think it’s just the kits that are limited availability!

Im looking to add a reverb pedal into my Erebus equation and im curious what folks are using, pedal wise. Looking for suggestions, recommendations, etc. Probably not looking to spend too much more than around $300. I have a Typhon, and have yet to check running the Erebus through it for effects, but im kinda burnt on the Sinevibes effects on it. Looking for that new new.
also, though i dearly love the delay on the Erebus, its kinda annoying too. Loud. Distorts the signal. So suggestions along those lines are welcome too.
I have the v2.

Vermona retroverb lancet.
(Unless you dont like spring reverb)

Gives you reverb plus filter plus balls plus LFO and envelope.
