You can from this app. It’s free and can play back midi files.
seems to me that Giku has updated the graphics engine - the app seems more fluid moving around the interface.
Also runs inside Logic Pro on an M1 Mac. Is this new? I can’t recall.
Sadly while it seems to load into Ableton Live, it doesn’t do very much.
ripping some of the new features
-randomizer module
-punch-in looper
-OB filter
all sounds created with FM
This has actually been working for quite a while now. Their other synth plugins run on both platforms as well. ![]()
Thanks for the hint, it works well. Most importantly, it gave me the idea that I can workaround the lack of MIDI import by using AUv3 plug-ins.
oh great!
I thought the update was adding a standard AU for Mac based on what someone said on the beepstreet forum but it seems it’s still an AU3. Unfortunately Studio One sees it but doesn’t load it as previously.
iOS apps can only be compiled as AUv3 I think, so it’s unlikely you’ll see an AUv2 version
That depends on the framework used, JUCE compiles to all platforms from the same code base for example.
Ah yeah good point, sorry I was thinking about stuff built with Apple languages/frameworks, which I’m pretty sure Drambo is judging by the UI
I have no idea if it is JUCE, but in the past he did release sunrizer across windows VST/Mac & iOS so there is likely a cross platform framework involved. For audio JUCE is pretty much the standard now for audio developers, qt is too expensive for the commercial audio market
Ah interesting, didn’t realise Sunrizer was on Windows! The reason I said that is because the UI for Drambo uses a lot of native iOS widgets (popover lists etc) which are hard to do with JUCE (I used to be a JUCE app developer haha), but could well be using JUCE or similar for the audio engine
I use JUCE for Mac/Windows apps but haven’t done any iOS apps yet. You could be right, sunrizer was a long time ago now. I made a free sound bank in the windows version, I don’t have it on iOS.
What a great demo for what is possible- thank you for the demo!
Are the Punch-In FX only available on the Master? I’ve been trying to get them working in individual tracks and unsuccessful thus far.
Yep…they will work on the individual track. Just place the Punch-In Effects rack at the end of the signal chain, and make sure you have Steps on the track playing some notes on your synth/sample to be able to effect.
I’m hoping to record a quick 5 minute overview today with Voice Over to cover it.
Fur generator is interesting. I was running a bunch of monosynth patches through it and bashed about. Definitely hair raising.
This was super helpful, thanks!
Seems like a good feature for Beep Street to add would be a “filter notes” module. Maybe the punch-in container could even be set up to automatically pull the notes from the note filter module (or vice-versa, although that would violate Drambo’s left-to-right-only rule) so you only have to set them up once.
