Digitone II Feature Requests

Or maybe I’m mistaken but it was possible with the keyboard of the DN keys

@LyingDalai do you confirm that it was possible on the OG DN?

I have no clue unfortunately, and I don’t have the OG anymore.

Yes, the OG DN has midi multimap, Ive used it.

So, this is my next feature request: the ability to trigger sound pool slots via MIDI. Ideally, not tied to notes, as I’d like to control pitch independently. Perhaps with program change or CC.

for midi machine:

  • midi arp
  • enable parameter lock for midi channel

Will Digitone II eventually get Rumsklang Reverb?

If the answer is yes, I’ll order one today.

I don’t think so.
Never buy a product because it might get, buy it for what it is now.

DNII and TV are not on the same architecture, TV is more powerful than DNII. So don’t expect too much. But who knows…

Hate to be this guy but - really? I thought DNII and DTII were on the new ‘architecture’ or ‘the new platform’ or whatever the buzzword is. Obviously they are different but I thought it was repeated over and over that one of the points of DTII and DNII was to have a new foundation for future expansion. I know there will be updates but I think whoever is using this new platform lingo, employee or influencer alike, is misleading people into a mess.

Note: I am not mad if that’s the case, and I’d be totally fine if there never any other update. Just not understanding the choice of words.

Iirc, DNII and DTII have a twice the power of DN/DT OG, like there is a second chip, not exactly the same, but there is still some code in common.

Whereas the TV is a whole new architecture (running an embedded Linux maybe), with a lot more power, but needing the whole code to be rewritten.

Edit: I have little knowledge/memory of what I am talking about, so take it with the appropriate amount of doubt.

Hmmm ok. I’m pretty sure I saw interviews from employees and third parties saying they were the first parts of a new technical platform. But I’m not going to press it or look back now to avoid derailing further.

@cuckoomusic definitely described the DT2 in those terms. “Soft-launching the new technical platform

SEARCHABLE/FILTERABLE PATTERNS

Apologies if this was mentioned already. Something I find lacking is the possibility search for saved Patterns within a project. Currently, one can search for Presets and Kits, but not Patterns - these should be called manually by choosing the Bank + Pattern. Does anyone know or speculate on a reason for this?

I’m now preparing a DAWless live set (first for me) and my workflow involves creating songs on one single pattern, maybe 2 if I want variations. Sometimes I play around in random Banks for the sake of experimentation and don’t always recall exactly in which Bank or Pattern I had a specific song. Aside from, of course, improving this aspect and eventually organizing my Patterns properly, I would definitely find it very handy to quickly search for a Pattern name in the menu, and either jump straight to it, or reload it in another Bank.

I find it curious that one can do this with entire Kits (quick mention - why no Tags for Kits?), but not Patterns, especially considering the possibility to naming Patterns actually exists.

Would love support of real DX7 Patches as a machine

Here is a good breakdown of the old vs “2” platform.

The extra SHARC dsp (older version) is what was used in the strymon big sky…

I feel like an idiot, talking specs when I have no exact info with someone that seems pretty knowledgeable

Pitch tracking mod, similar to velocity mod or keytracking. This way one can assign modulation to pitch and with portamento enabled get some kind of parameter slide.

Not the same architecture but almost certainly on the same Rust codebase. So I guess there’s chance to see newer FXs ported to the Digi line
I hope
