Digitone II Feature Requests

I hope someday we can get the filterbank, frequency shifter (if thats what the TV freq warper or whatever is), and the chrono pitch on the dn2

I would love to have some creative fx on an Elektron synth. Although I’m sure I’ll end up getting the TV at some point

Tonverk’s filter bank as a third EQ page? More mixing freedom like this would be very useful

I wonder if the processor can handle it

Oh darn, I literally posted a request for the same thing and then saw yours right before mine

Would love some new machines and other features but I’m going to just post “Track Solo” atleast once per month until Elektron gets around to it FGS. Should have been possible by now considering how long Digis have been around and imo a pretty absurd omission. 16 tracks but 10 fingers so if I want to instantly solo a track I gotta do all kinds of physical and mental gymnastics is wild af in 2025.

Prepare mutes isn’t doing it for you?

No. I use it because I have to but it’s clumsy for how I use solo. It needs to be quick and rhythmic.

I like crafting groovey, booty moving or head knodding music. Hip hop, House, Afrobeats, etc

Soloing is as or more important as muting for sound design and performance and should be as easy to accomplish imo.

@SpaceTiger3000 @KingMidas - couldn’t agree more with you. Coming from the AR4 it was kind of a shock to not have a dedicated Solo function on the DN2. Prep Mutes kinda does it but generally I find it cumbersome, slow and impractical. I think as an add-on it’s a nice feature, but as it being the only way to apply Solo on 16 tracks… not cool.

Also for sound designing, if I want to spend some time on a single track, I have to Mute all the others, then Unmute again… It really is a very elemental feature found on all DAWs, sequencers, other Elektrons…

Me too.

It would involve a lot of changes to the architecture of the FM engine to really match a DX7 … you’d need 6 operators per patch, each with its own DX7-style envelope, and more algorhythms. Maybe some kind of fixed frequency setting per operator would have to be added too (?), I can’t remember how DN2 handles that.

I’m not gonna hold my breath, but fun to dream about it.

Hmm i feel like if the Volca FM 2 could do it so could Elektron but did not think about it from that perspective.

Also I don’t think it’s elektrons style to just port a vintage classic.

-Printable arp
-Wavefolder insert post-filter.
-Ability to ctrl-all midi track CC’s.
-Solo track
-Modulation envelope
-Morphable or selectable env curve e.g., snappy, long, linear.
-Filter with different flavor enough. Or a filterbank.
-Maybe more Wavetone waveforms? Not sure what they would be though as it already has pwm and sync with basic waveforms.
-It often feels that saturation with frequency target would be very welcome to warm up the sound. So more saturation/drive options.
-A surprise machine (lol).
-Option to set 7/8, 3/4, 15/16 etc. time to play only for the step amount per page and always start from 1. It sounds a bit stupid to lose x trigs per page but it would help a lot and encourage writing in non-4/4.

Not THAT long a list as it is very cool as is already. If I could have one, I would wish for more filters. They really open up a digital synth. For example, my Cobalt8 has like 40 different filter types.

+1 For more env curves!

at least use FX page better(same to all digis),if not as flex as TV’s routing ability, put down some real FX to digis, curruntly,1000$ digi box at a Post DAW era looks like a toy, the FX chain USE like prehistoric gear, a 16 track box without any really selecable insert FX.

It might or might not be possible to add DX7 patch-reading to the DN2; I have no idea.

The question is, what if you wanted to tweak those DX7 patches? To keep everything clear, you’d presumably need a 5th machine, different from FM TONE; a new machine that provided the extra algorhythms, more and different envelopes, and so forth.

I would love that, but as you say it doesn’t seem like Elektron’s style; they kind of go their own way.

Synthstrom Deluge did it

Sure. Volca FM, Korg Opsix, Yamaha Montage, and many softsynths are all based on the DX7 structure. The Mega FM stuff too, though with a smaller engine.

Like @Skurdd said, it doesn’t seem like something Elektron typically has done … but I wish they would. It would just take “building” a 5th machine to edit the imported patches.

When Digitone 2 came out, Syntakt stopped getting updates. I feel the same thing will happen with Digitone 2 now that Tonverk has been released and new machines based on the verk platform are being developed.

This is a false statement.

Came here to suggest P-Lock slides and outputing/printing Arp patterns to MIDI (or some sort of work around around those lines) but see both have been suggested like… hundreds of times. lol.
