Digitakt Price Hike

Maybe Elektron can give nice discounts for cryptocurrency, and that would give me a nice incentive to begin investing.

The only price hike I’ve really taken as a valid one was the change on the Elektron website. Which has gone from 679 to 729 but it’s not like they have had any in stock directly at the higher price.

And could be entirely a currency rate fluctuation thing.

On the other hand i saw prices for DSI and Moog synths here in the EU increase by almost 30% during the past couple of months. So…i guess we are all victims of global currency speculations.

Also consider it was pre-holiday season… of course the sales on equipment will be better during 4th quarter. And don’t forget, the next wave of DT shipments launched in late Oct/ early November. They wanted to unload inventory as quickly as possible.

Eu prices have gone up like crazy, total nonsense to me. Even more than 100€ higher in certain cases.
No more GAS from me and many other guys I know who were interested in the Digitakt. Too bad.

On the bright side in the US classified gear market many items are dropping in price due to NAMM speculation.

I suspect they’ve been selling cheap because of the issues and delays with updates etc. Now the price is returning to closer the original as all is about to be made well. Some suppliers still have them for a steal. If you can secure one now before NAMM I’d do it. It’s a wonderful device as is so can only get better.

Where? I think it’s only Thomann (769) and Gear4Music (799). Bax-shop has them for 609 and Juno same price. Many shops will match the Bax/Juno price if you ask them. It’s really worth comparing when you’re in the market for a new Digitakt.

Yeah I have to agree - I have seen little increase in price here in the UK.

I picked up my second one this week and it was cheaper than the one I bought in August.

Just a little bit ago people kept saying the digitakt was experiencing massive price drops. Funny how these things shift back and forth.

I preordered from the first batch at Sweetwater which was going for $649. Then when they hitted the streets price rose to $679. Today I checked and the Digitakt is at $729 everywhere. At least Overbridge will be free for early adopters, everyone else is screwed with the pricing.

I don’t see how every else is “screwed” with the digitakt being 729 instead of 679 that was its original retail price. I too got mine at Sweetwater, early batch, for 649 but that was not the suggested retail price at the time, msrp was 679. A fifty dollar price increase is not really significant and now the dt cost what an analog heat cost.

Maybe you are entirely unhappy with your digitakt and feel it isn’t worth the price. But that doesn’t screw everyone else.

New customers are screwed because they are actually paying for OB. Had the price remained at $649 or even $679, then you can say they will get OB free too. But in reality they are paying for OB.

The necessary features of overbridge were always gonna be free. Additionally the A4 and AR had price hikes that covers overbridge cost, just seem no one is scrutinizing their bump. And ultimately 50$ “screws” no one. Some don’t even need overbridge

Edit: honestly I was more annoyed when overbridge was going to come in free and premium flavors, if a 50$ dollar price bump makes it free for everyone that seems much better.

It should also be noted as this has been discussed in other threads that the price hike may have to do with economic reasoning regarding currency exchange rates or something along those lines.

Elektron prices lurch up and down regularly at retailers. DT in the UK is c£540 new which is a great price come to think of it. When I got mine on release I was offered it at £600 rather than the £650 initial asking price.

Just noticed Elektron are selling online at £699 though which seems a little outrageous to me in all honesty.

Anyway, don’t think any of this has anything to do with Overbridge in my opinion.

I’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, they are about to add a really big feature? Something like a drum synth engine perhaps? A huge new addition could explain the recent price hike.

Maybe the price hike means that they have upgraded their quality control and DTs will no longer arrive with faults (as reported by several people here).

Actually QC saves money – no cost paying for returns, and scrapping boxes, and repair, and lost sales from pissed off customers – so with better QC you can lower the price.

(From personal experience – learned the hard way.)

wow, its not that long ago when i still saw the DT going for 622€ at Thomann.

well, at the end is the time put into these boxes the real and big investment.
at least thats how i look at it

I just ordered a DT at Andertons UK for £535. Some other UK retailers are selling them for £649 and £699. I looked at the Elektron site and they are also selling them for £699. I guess that’s the new price so glad I grabbed one now before it goes up everywhere. I wouldn’t have bought one at the higher price.
