Digitakt II Tips & Tricks

I tried this before, but it wasn’t possible then i think.

How do I adjust the preview volume when in the browser??

The new feature of changing/adding parameter locks for every trig on the page or even on the whole track is SO smooth. I already can’t imagine being without it.
It has great value for extending arrangements: You want to wait with a melody line until the second round of the pattern? Just hold a trig, press [TRK] and dial in 2:2. Then you have a whole round freed up for what you imagined could fit better on the first round. (P. 47 in the manual.)

do you know which channel via usb outputs the Sample Preivew sounds. I don’t use the Master as its really noisy for some reason, is that the reason why I can’t hear the sample preview?

yeh i’ve had the same issue and email elektron back in the first firmware. they still haven’t done anything.

I don’t think there is a channel that does that… But id have to try to be sure. Maybe tomorrow, ill let you know.

Thanks for that I will do also , but I have a hunch it’s only the Main L & R via the UsBthat does that… the weird thing is when I monitor from the main L&R it’s super noisy… but all the other individual tracks via USB is dead quiet .

I’ve also emailed elektron hopefully they ‘d have better insight

I see 42 ins, 16 tracks, plus 3 fx and mains is 20. 20 stereo tracks is 40 ins. So there are 2 more… Who knows… :slightly_smiling_face:

Can’t believe I only just noticed this after 10 months. For inspiration:

  • start new project, delete factory samples
  • load up, say, 30 or samples at random from your plusdrive
  • keep hitting SRC+YES to get random slices from random sample for inspiration

And

  • after fine tuning one sample with AMP, FLTR, FX, LFO
  • leave those settings and start hitting SRC+YES again, and they’ll all sound completely fresh.

That’s a great use case, thanks for that! Great combination with the new overdub feature also!

Apologies in advance if this is overdone but I don’t check here often, but since the 1.10 update removed most of the clicking that used to happen with this, I found that Granular and Wavetable stuff works super well now, even with zero attack. I originally was making a short video but ended up having a few days brainstorming and testing stuff and made a quite long video on the subject, and I’m very happy about it to use myself, and hopefully some people find it useful as well. Again I know there have been videos on the various ways to do granular for years, but I really feel like now it is finally viable even without a dedicated machine for it or something.

Anyway, hope some people enjoy!

Hey thanks

Great video and very informative. Have you ever used the app Fluss? Using this technique and copying it over three pages could be very similar.

Recipe:
Lfo 1 to scan across the sample start point
Lfo 2 sample and hold start point to scatter the grains
Lfo 3 to bring volume in and out.
Once this is pasted to three tracks and each track have the Lfos tweaked a bit so they fall in and out of time with each other.

I’ll have to mess around with it when I get a free moment.

Thank you! That’s a nice idea!

Today I was thinking if it was possible to create some pseudo fm sounds by modulating the tune of a singlecycle sinewave with an audiorate lfo using keytacking on lfo rate. I got some intresting results, but kept wondering if there was some way to achieve tonal sounds by getting the values right.

Did someone already try this or does anybody have a clue how to approach the value problem? I’m not that good with numbers.

Anyways, I‘d love to know if this was possible and even if not I still think this is a neat little trick to get some weird sounds going, so I thought I might share

Wish you could easily do [TRK]+Clear for all tracks. I’m thinking of when you need to clear the factory stuff out of a new project. Have I missed that ?

I didn’t realise that once you’re in the microtiming screen for a trig, you can use any encoder to move the trig around, not sure how that slipped me past but it’s nice.

Yeah, I’m surprised new projects come pre-loaded with samples already. Kind of annoying. I suppose you can remove them and then save that as a template project.

samples, right menu, select all, unload.

it’s super quick muscle memory imo.

saving a default template would be cool however.
