didn’t really make an effort for that pic did they haha

it looks like an ancient artifact

Still hoping for a fx machine. But the slice machine is great. Didn’t really feel the need for it myself, but now it is here, I love it.

Same here, i only wanted zoom in so i can see where i am cutting longer samples.
Would have zoom for samples as a default for all machines

Is it possible to sample a quantised loop live yet same as you can with octatrack

Same for dt2

Please, I would so love to see the reset step after each sequence light up red. This would help tremendously when using time signatures other than 4/4.

One of the features touted by the DT2 is the stereoness, but there’s very little or nothing you can do with that, apart from playing back a stereo recording.

A filter pan or left-right tilt offset parameter would be great to create more stereo movement.

And an old one, polyphony. i don’t need 16 voice poly mode, but even just a two note polyphony would alow for a realistic ride cymbal sound, without new hits chocking out the old ones.

I’d like to see some level of voice stealing.

Spread chords over several mono tracks is unwieldy but doable. Using one track and stealing those voices from other tracks would be far more manageable.

Voice stealing where the tracks that are stolen from can still be used as midi machines would be fantastic.

Ability to move samples loaded into RAM between banks.

The current options for managing samples in RAM are “Select All, Select Unused, Deselect All, Unload, Auto-Preview” I’d like to add ‘Move to Bank’

Right now the way to get around this is going back into the folder where the samples are, re-selecting them, load them into the correct bank, go back into manage samples and unload ones loaded in the wrong place.

However, you then need to manually re-assign the samples. Some samples have really long names and the display does not scroll.

There are ways around finding out which sample it is using electron connect and counting files, a fantastic user experience, or somehow knowing about the problem before you encounter it and bulk rename samples before sending.

Add BANK SBANK and PROG to LFO modulation destinations on the Midi machine.

For synths that can keep up when these values are locked, modulating this would be fun.

Also adding the keytracking page setup option for the midi machine along with those destinations to have a pseudo ‘aphex mode’ from the Novation Bass Station be possible.

i think a great feature not so difficult to add would be the possibility to set on a rec page a start recording option in order to automaticly start recording the next time Digitakt reset the pattern.
like that we do not have to stop and play the machine to rec a loop with the good start point.

Please add cue output per track thru the headphones jack. Obviously it would be nice to be able to cue tracks in the traditional sense, but this would also allow you to run 2 stereo buses of audio out into, say, an Octatrack.

A few new requests, half bar and quarter note options for loop length in stretch and repitch mode, and

in the slice mode, an extra playback mode : forward-backwards.
This is a trick from ableton, where instead of playing a slice in one direction, looping or just cutting to silence after it’s length, the slice will play forward, and then loop into backwards playback.

This helps a lot when slicing drumbreaks with a lot of room tone/ambiance. The current way every slice/hit end gets choked to silence, causing a stuttering unnatural sound. Reversing playback at the end allows room tone to not suddenly stop, and you can slow the tempo quite a lot more without having to pitch down.

Come to think of it you might be able to force this with a synced square lfo to playback mode, but this would be much simpler and elegant.

Speaking of the ping-pong play mode, one idea I like even better would be a “free” play mode (in addition to forward. reverse, and loop modes).

In this mode, the play head would have to be modulated by an LFO for example, which in turn can be used to implement a ping-ping playmode, among others.

Pattern swap. It would work just like track swap, but… for patterns. Seems like a no-brainer/must have for pattern organization. So much so, that I’ll wait for somebody to let me know this is already possible.

LFO to SRC playback mode has been fixed in the most recent firmware.

You can use a squarewave LFO (or random if you really want some glitch) to go between Rev.L and Fwd.L now. Not quite full ping pong using the start and end markers, but good enough for some break torturing.

Thank you and yes, I’ve been aware. Updated the firmware today because of this very fix when I noticed it’s been announced explicitly in the change log. Spent the entire day “implementing” different ways of having something like a grain synth including ping-pong play modes and your suggestion was one of them I had made too.
All of them still felt more like a workaround and limited in comparison to what we could do if we were able to control the play head directly, for example using one or even multiple LFOs.

FYI I am aware about the possibility to control the play head directly by using retrigs (trig page 2) and it leads to a nice way to have something that comes close to a grain synth if we have an LFO modulate “sample start” but the retrig intervals can’t be freely chosen either, hence the request for a “free” play mode feature

Here’s an example that I made:

I’d buy another Digitakt if they implemented keygroups/multi-samples. So DT #1 is playing the beats and DT #2 is playing the keygroups. Good way to bring the exact sound of the record with you when you go out performing.

Yes, and please Polyphone per Track.
