Digitakt II Feature Requests

Hi

Elektron sequencer is brilliant, no doubt. But how about such a new kind of trigs copy.
Select trigs to copy keeping [REC] pressed.
Selected trigs will be highlighted.

Analogously, keep [STOP] pressed and select first trig where to paste copied trigs.

I’d like the option to lock (and unlock) pattern mute save states so I can save everything else as normal but not the current mute state. I don’t use purple pattern mutes because I always forget to revert them to how I want them set up when I save.

It would be nice if the trigger condition ratios expands into two ratios against one like: 1&2 : 4, 3&4 : 4, Etc.

For being able to be more accurate with longer bar loops.

Feature Request: a toggle to remove lock trigs when all parameters locks they hold are cleared, lock trigs without a parameter lock could be called ‘empty’ as a shorthand.

Currently the way to do this is by holding in the corrisponding encoder when live record is running.

You can also remove specific parameter locks on a track in real time. In LIVE RECORDING mode, press
and hold [NO] and then press and hold the DATA ENTRY knob corresponding to the parameter that you
want to remove.

this seems flakey (can you reliably do more than one at the same time? ) and requires you to be on the corresponding page and have the full sequence played through at least once to clear parameters on that page.

You also run into the issue that there are some parameter locks you want to keep if they were laid down sparsely requires hunting and peeking on trigs to find the ones you shouldn’t remove.

I’d like to see an option added so when a parameter is cleared with “trig + track + the encoder you want to clear”. All lock trigs that only have that parameter locked within them are automatically removed. “remove empty lock trigs on parameter clear” or some such.

Dear @Elektron dreamteam

SELECT BNK ON RELEASE FUNC+PTN

Would it be possible to ‘hold FUNC + PTN’ and then going through the banks pressing TRiGs A - H, (to first check and see if any PTNs are lit up/the BNk actually contains any) and then loading the current BNK after release of the FUNC+PTN buttons, opposed to immediately selecting the BNK after pressing A - H

i personally think it’s a minor fix that will very much improve the workflow

thank you for your consideration

Cheers :metal:

Hm this made me thinking, like we have save for sounds and kits, it would be amazing to have save for patterns, or pattern banks

@Elektron wizards

Unfortunately the latest Elk Herd doesn’t work anymore after the latest SLiCE update :smiling_face_with_tear:

(i remember enjoying EH on the DT1! Such a breeze to move stuff around, organise, make screenshots/recallsheets and delete unused samples and trim the fat to make projects load faster)

(found out on the day i tried to switchup and speed prep a quick n dirty set for the same day, with the DT2 as my main weapon. Not my best perfomance, but also not my worst  Lucky for me a fuse blew and the fire alarm went off, caused by a cheap smoke machine being but a quarter into my set. After a few anxiety beers to recover while technical issues were being fixed i quickly got lost again in my scribbles and notes trying to jump from one project to the next and from banks to patterns and back, to complete the sillyness and absolute chaos :metal::laughing: pretty raw set)

Would be nice if we could export/import PTNs/BNKs as well in combination with using Transfer, much the same as complete projects (.PROJ)

.dt2ptn .dt2bnk ???
Which also has the samples embedded

(not having to manually write down all samples used and then seek/look for them when spread all over the map, to add them again when manually copying over a PTN to another PROJ)

It’ll still be a bit of a workaround copying a PTN over to another project, but maybe this would make for a nice update to the transfer app?

(yes! ofcourse i can make project kits, but doen’t this only save/load the 16 instrument slots?)

Like importing a .dt2proj, but now when dropping it on transfer, the DT2 GUi asking on which pattern slot to drop/overwrite and loading additional missing samples into the current active BNK slot/pool (maybe have the nice TRiG menu act like the drop selection menu for visual consistency?)

It will be a huge timesaver when fra kensteining bits and pieces together to make a proper live set (with multiple songs/tracks residing in one PROJ and split across BNKs.

Another problem being when loading the next PROJ, audio no longer passing through.
Needing an additional mixer to feed another external soundsource e.g. my Polyend Tracker (MKI)

So yes, i need more boxes (DN2, SY, TV) to keep the audio/noize going.

And i need one of these shitty smoke machines to sabotage my set when things are not working

Import/Export PTN/BNk

Thanks again and cheers!
:metal:

Yes, just the 16 slots attached to your 16 tracks, no account taken of sample locks, preset locks, or LFOs sweeping sample slots.

Also, once you have the kit, you can’t back it up with transfer, except by remembering to load it into a project, and backing that up.

EDIT: Not quite true You can dump the sysex for a kit (at least on 1.15A) but that won’t take a copy of the samples with it.

So, I agree, I support your request.

Not even the beta released in the last day ?

Ah, 3.3.4 didn’t see that. Will check!
The 3.3.3 version only supports DT2 OS 1.10a

It returned an error in chrome (could not import export etc projects)

Tried downgrading the OS, but wasn’t allowed by the DT2 (which i ofcourse respect)

tx!

I will play around and see if all’s okay?

thanks for the link to the beta!!!

Hej @elektron crew,
just one more silly request for tonight and then i’ll take a break again from spamming…

Would it also be possible (if not being too demanding on the CPU?) to see the velocity/volume level in the mixer menu per track ?

So you can see which tracks are ‘active’?
(or muted and ‘greyed out’)

like maybe, now you have the volume level meter icons with the small strokes on each side to indicate the set level/gain. Maybe the right side can be like an active level meter (just like the compressor pumping bar indicator? Or it can be just a pixel moving to the current value, with a small refreh interval?)

Just as a visual dynamic/aesthetic opposed to the static icons with no indication whats happening on the channel/track

Don’t know if it would actually make sense to anyone, but mixingwise as a reference it could possibly serve a use/purpose?

Alright, that’s it again for me today

Thanks for the already uberly awesome DT2 machine :muscle:

(Tomorrow i’ll be setting up my Novation Launch Control XL3, if anybody hasn’t already? And maybe post something/make a new thread for workflow setup or ?..

Because ‘More knobs is more awesome’ :muscle:
(controlling stuff without the button combo’s and menu diving - sharing a template)

Skål och god natt!
:metal:

Oh well and maybe,…
don’t know the status of the Overbridge for iPad?.. but… i recently bought the Koala FX AU3
which unfortunately isn’t standalone.

So i tried to set it up with Cubasis and turn on the monitor button to hear the effect.

But unfortunately this hasn’t the desired result because of also hearing the dry master from the DT2…

Would be nice if the OB iPad app could also load the AU3 as an insert on a per channel basis? setup custom ch strips/signal chains w 3rd party stuff?.. AUX/Send FX and the lot…

The workaround for now, using Koal FX is to export and play back audio stems (and resample parts) while tweaking (where automation can also come into play)

But i’m very curious about the developments of the App, hoping it will be like a small external mixing environment/Elektron DAW app of it’s own kind/signature + outputting the multis to WAVs ofcourse.

esp nice if the midi automation can also be done from a midi track/trigs sequence and randomized on the spot

Anyhowz, tack!

I would love this also an option to have the mixer also include pans.

The reason you shouldn’t do a master mix in headphones is largely psychoacoustic in nature. No getting around that, re: bass colorations.

'Course, if your music isn’t bass heavy, then the issue is moot. I’ve always been about as bass heavy as mid 90s Aphex Twin (I Care / RDJ era), and have always shied away from super bass heavy stuff (e.g. dubstep, etc), so occasionally I can get away with it well enough.

Please add parameter slides. This would be great for pitch bend on the midi side, at the very least.

Hello,

I’m here to suggest a few details for the next update that seem very important to me. I’ll start with what annoys me the most: the delay.

I know this will eventually become a learning curve, and that we can work with it, but it would really be nice if, for the delay synchronization, we could see the values directly on the screen, instead of having to print the table from the manual to have them at a glance (which I’ve done in the meantime).

What I’m asking is very simple, and there are several possibilities to achieve it:

Either you put two types of delay, one synchronized, the other not.

Or you put both values on the potentiometer so we don’t have to remember that a ¼ delay is 32, a 1/16 delay is 8, or a ⅓ ½ T delay is 42.67. (When passing a synchronized value, simply indicate it).

Why not enter the values directly? From 1, through ¼, 1/8, etc., up to 1/128? I don’t think we all need math ratio problems to make music, do you?

I hope this problem, which is incredibly incomprehensible for a creative person, is addressed and that we finally have the ability to quickly adjust the delay.

Second thing: why ONLY 8 pattern banks? Why not 16? (That would be a minimum), because there are exactly the right number of buttons for this, very simple, and it would make the machine so much better and more powerful! It’s really not much for you to implement, but it would change the lives of everyone I know who owns this machine (and there are some!); they all have the same opinion, and it would be sad if it were for financial reasons, or to encourage us to buy the whole kit. Don’t worry, we all want them all! (I imagine…).

Thank you for listening, I sincerely hope to see these requests taken into account, because it’s really nothing to implement. I (they) aren’t asking much of you, just two details that seem very important to me and the others.

Musically, and with all due respect,

AureL.

Are you aware that you can jump directly between synchronized values by holding FUNC when turning the delay time knob? The functionality you crave already exists.

Holding func, but yes, this is correct. Many values jump between useful intervals when holding func prior to turning a parameter knob.

This is called out in the manual so might be good for OP to revisit when time allows.

Ah yes I mean func of course. Been using the KO2 a lot this week and have shift on the brain!

Hello,

THANK YOU! My bad! Thank you very much!

I don’t have it in my manual in my language (probably outdated and poorly translated), I have trouble with English, it would be nice to have up-to-date instructions in all languages… (if possible please! Since there are only PDFs, since they evolve, I understand, but why only in English?..) Anyway…

And what about the pattern banks? What do you think? Wouldn’t it be better to have 16 instead of 8? Because you just have to fill in the available buttons, there’s nothing more to do for that, is it a business strategy in your opinion?

Anyway, thank you so much, you saved my day.

Musically,

AureL

(excuse my English… thank you…)
