BONK, to get the most out of Tonverk Subtracks (free!)

Hey @simmo75 , glad you find it interesting!
Unfortunately, I’m not planning on covering multi-sampling for the foreseeable future - it’s a crowded market and LoopSeek and @brian3kb 's tool Verkbench look like they already do that much, much better than I could reasonably achieve in the next few months.

I do have some other ideas for tools not covered by either of those that I would bundle into BONK Pro focused around sampling hardware, to make Pro more appealing! One’s in the works already…

hahaha you’d be surprised how many times i’ve heard people yelling that at me (cause it’s my actual surname;)

re: windows version and pricing - i’ll need one beta tester to whom i’d give a PRO code - is that maybe you?

i’ll keep the price the same for both versions because otherwise it gets messy. however, the good news is i i’m considering extending the EA pricing of 29€ for a while longer because my first kid is arriving soon - and i’d feel strange hiking the price to 39€ until i’m reasonably able to bugfix and continue support again.

Happy to beta test the Windows version if that would be helpful to you. I’m traveling this week but can plug in next Monday. And happy to pay the EA price as this looks like a genuinely useful and worthwhile tool.

I would love to see autosampling covered in BONK, all in one app for TV, and affordable like yours. I hope to see in a future a windows version and maybe the autosampling features.

@fffiiissshhh is there / will there be a version for Intel Mac?

hi
a little weirdness with transient detection / display when zoomed.

it was a long sample with lots of samples in it, i used transient to slice it up, distributed it aross multiple pads.
some of the samples were still ‘multiple bits’ so i was trying to slice it additionally on another pad, the transients were ‘off’ , so i wanted to adjust them, when i zoomed in they looked ok .

on the 3rd image, using the 1:1 button, you can see the transients are off within the sample
i have to click + twice for it to zoom and display the transients at the beginning of each sample transient.

a ‘zoom value’ might be handy , eg x2 or 25%
plus visual feedback on moving the transient to the point it hits ‘waveform’ , or some type of snap with a value ? i’m basically a beginner with your app, so probably asking idiotic questions.

and finally .
if i use velocity layers, is there a way to select ‘my velocity’ so that i can easily check the layer. if i click on the big track block at the top it only seems to trigger full volume.
tbh - i rearranged some of the samples on a pad, and the actual one it played back when i clicked on the big box seemed to stick with the default / original sample i had assigned, and not the highest velocity (eg i moved one to the top and it still played the original sample ),

BONK 1.3.6 is now live — grab it at bonkthedrums.com or let the auto-update banner do it for you.

A lot of updates for the Loop Slicer:

Added:

  • Slice count slider (in transient mode, adds/removes slices according to transient sensitivity)
  • Zoom level indicator in the controls row — always shows the current zoom ratio at a glance
  • Drag handles now display a millisecond readout and highlight when the cursor is near a marker

Fixed:

  • Transient detection accuracy improved — markers land closer to true transients
  • Waveform strip now refreshes to the correct velocity layer when switching subtracks
  • Slice markers no longer land slightly off zero-crossings
  • Dragging a velocity layer boundary no longer incorrectly resets the waveform view
  • Slicer zoom controls layout corrected
  • Overall responsiveness of BPM and transient detection/consistency improved

Thanks to @re5et for the feedback!
Hope this makes your Tonverk OS 1.4.0 explorations tons of fun.

tip of the day - look at the keyboard shortcuts… it helps a lot (i shouldve done it earlier)
keys 1 - 8 , preview the track … it cycles through all the roundrobins
Keys + and - , up and down velocity values, so can easily preview all of that too.

and more…

Thanks so much for this incredible useful app first of all!

I have 2 questions,

is there an option for the exported kit to use the samples on a common sample folder rather than duplicated in the kit folder?

is there a way the samples not to be converted and renamed?

Absolutely love this app.

I’m testing the following workflow and finding it really cool. For now I have to do it editing the eldrum file after the export but it would be awesome if this was an option in BONK. The feature requested would be to be able to load the same samples in different tracks without duplicating them in the export. Also perhaps simply duplicating or copy and paste tracks.

The way I’m using this is loading the same samples in the 128 velocity slots for all the layers, of example 128 chords.

Then I can set a different velocity in each subtract to select the best chords for the song (it remembers it when changing subtracts).

Now I can play live with the chord selection I just made by simply selecting a different velocity on each subtrack . You need to try this, so much fan.

Absolutely loving Bonk. I used it to build a mega drum kit using velocity layers and the occasional round robin. I have one question - would it be possible to have Bonk export mono samples from stereo sources? A lot of my drum hits are stereo, but I would prefer mono for a few reasons. Obviously, I can pre-convert them before using Bonk, but just wondering if such a thing were possible. Thanks for your work on making this thing!

Thanks for the positive feedback y’all, glad you’re finding it useful!

Not sure I understand, can you explain?

Not to be converted to WAV? Does TV also play AIFF or another format you prefer?
Not to be renamed - should be possible as an option.

Should be possible and not too difficult. Thanks for the idea.

Should be possible and not too difficult. Great idea and wonder why I hadnt thought of that haha. Drums are often in mono!

Also to you windows fans, eg. @Amy - thanks for your patience. Making some promising progress thanks to some help from @pc77
