Itās possible to make advanced tech simple to use too.
However, pleasing everyone equally is impossible. ![]()
Thats a Rompler plus a DX style FM synth
what type of sequencer?
the system 8 sequencer looks fun
What ā¦wait. Are these presets bought from Don or included with he latest OS(Vangelis/Jarre)?
That is such a tasty demo.
Maander Flame always looked cool to me.
And on the overall topic. Deckardās Dream is probably not the best by any objective measure. But itās the best for me! It feels so expressive and is imo way more versatile than people give it credit for.
Oh yes well not sure, but Don created them and they are includedā¦i think. Or not? I mean they dropped more than 2000 presets into this synth⦠there is something for anyone!
Hereās the Don Solaris patch list that comes with OS 2.0:
Here a list of the Don Solaris patches you get with the v2.0 update. The patch numbers are just pointing to where the authour saved them, not where you import them to on a Quantum:

All DSI / Sequential synth have a sequencer of a kind, some of them are more interesting than others (Rev2, Poly Evolver, X ) but still all of them are very useful and fun. Tetra is a kind of poly synth and has a super fun sequencer + if controlled outside with another sequencer itās starting to be a serious power.
Vintage synths known for sequencer are JX3p, Sequential P600 and Six Track (killer 6 track sequencer, endless fun ), some older synths could be upgraded via Tubutech mods for some cool sequencer features (Juno, Mono/Poly, PolySix ).
Almost all vintage Ensoniq machines have really deep and nice multitrack sequencers if one is into this type of sound and workflow.
New Korgs have nice sequencers OP Six and Wavestate.
Any poly synth with Cirklon sequencer is very natural, almost like itās ābuild ināā¦
Many optionsā¦
Just give me a Fantom or a Jupiter X. Both will load the Roland models of the Jupiter, Juno, etcā¦
I think the Roland Jupiter X one of the best poly synths around and is overlooked by many people. It has all the classic Roland synths, drum machines, Roland/Boss effects, sequencer, 5 part multi timbral but most importantly it has a wonderful keybed and solid metal build.
I agree, one of the most underrated synths. My vote is for Medusa
Huge fan of the Black Corporation - Deckardās Dream MKII here. Really hoping to own one someday. I had the Deckardās Voice for awhile and that thing was heavenly! Canāt imagine how fun 7 more voices would be!
Agreed! Sounds fan-forkin-tablulous too! Only a measly 256 voices and 4 parts (5 with drums). I really donāt know why all the hate on videos and reviews?
I guess most Roland synths were hated before they were loved.
I wouldnāt count the drums as much more than samples because the editing is extremely limited and kits are fixed. Theyāre more there for something to write synth parts to IMO.
I got a smoking deal on an XM and now I kind of want to have the X for the studio.
The Jupiter 8, Juno 106, and SH101 all sound awesome! I donāt care if they are exact, they have mojo. They can be pushed and broken and destroy your speakers/ears just like the the real ones.
Having such useful good sounding onboard FX is just icing on the cake ![]()
The Prophet X is what I chose - itās like nothing else Iāve had over the years and a bit of tweaking can give amazing results.
Itās not really perfect (weird file management, and, unbelievably enough, a bit shaky in the MIDI come to mind) but truly unique sounds are actually easily made.
I used to dream about the OB-6 (well, actually even the OB-Xa) but honestly wouldnāt trade the X for an OB-6 anymore - the added sample layers would be greatly missed.
Well⦠what about Nords?
I know I knowā¦
But for pop sound / mix with voice or acoustic instruments they are incredible
Itās great to see that Iām not only one loving Roland Jupiter X/Xm. Have you tried the JD-800 model expansion yet? Iām thinking of adding that soon, but there is such much to be getting on with the current sounds that I havenāt felt the need to expand yet. I would imagine they will release another model expansion for it soon too, D-50 maybeā¦
I just got a NordLead1 and Iām head over heals. Dead simple for your basic staple sounds. Fun for strange effects. Also a perfect controller for Bitwig poly synths. 1995 forever!
Cool!
Iāve tried the JD-800 model but I havenāt dug into it yet. Presets remind me of most of the well regarded (at the time) digital stuff from the 90ās early 00ās (XP-80, Yamaha EX5, maybe even d-50, etcā¦). I remember wanting one when I was a teenager (already discontinued at that point).
Also havenāt messed with the JX8p yet either. Iāve only had it a few days though
Iām not really a preset user so Iād have to dig in to learn to program it. Iām pretty caught up in the others currently so it might be a while.
It seems as if the whole Zenolgy stuff is the future for Roland so I donāt think it hurts to grab a permanent license for later. Itāll probably work on future hardware too.
Edit: I meant to add that the other stand out thing from the Jupiter X/XM is that the controls are all 10bit.
Live slow movements of parameters are super smooth like analog is. Even the REV2 has complaints about filter stepping sounds with slow manual movements and itās technically analog. You donāt hear that on the Jupiter X/XM even though itās emulated⦠awesome!
