I have definitely considered the prophet x because of its hybrid approach. Most of what I’ve heard from 8DIO seems very production release ready type quality too.
I love synth sounds but sometimes you need a little realism as well. This seems like it could fill that role.
Less software and more hardware seems to breathe life into my music. Live recording knob twiddling as audio instead of programming automation as low resolution midi for example.
Four layers, whose synth parts can be “global” or not (including arp, lfo, amp env, filt env, etc.), multiple customisable destinations for velocity, mod wheel, aftertouch, pedal input.
Yeah the Prophet X is really killer, kind of bums me out that they seem to have no plans for a desktop version. I would probably still be scheming about how to fit the keyboard unit into my setup if I hadn’t bitten on the Waldorf M instead. Prophet X just demos so well when walking into a synth store to try stuff, just impressive with almost no effort. My GF also just immediately just loved playing on the X… hard to argue with its approachability on a basic level of find cool preset patch and have fun.
Is there a better sounding analog polysynth in the making than OB-6(apart from Prophet 5,10)?
(talking now about core sound:osc+filter, not flexibility and stuff)
I’d personally probably prefer a lot of the stuff made by black corp for the core sound. Not that Ob6 doesn’t have a great sound but I always felt there is a certain type of cheesy ness to the core oberhiem sound that you kind of have to fight to get away from.
