Behringer RD-6 606 clone

The 303 clone?

my bad, I meant the Cyclone Analogic TT-606, same company who did the Bassbot

sync seemed ok when i used it at the weekend… triggered start/stop/clock from digitakt.

Does the clear button work? I’m unable to erase individual instruments with one press. Also, get the feeling the sequencer is not fully fleshed out as there are copy, paste and del. Not sure how to operate those.

not sure about individual instrument pattern clear, I’m sure pattern clear worked.
I’ll tinker with it later.

If it’s like the original tr-606, you have to hold the clear button while the pattern plays to erase the notes for each instrument.

I realise that (as mentioned upthread), sadly it’s not working on the RD6. I get the feeling the sequencer is unfinished, either that or mine is faulty… I’m surprised that there hasn’t been any talk about this, I’ve asked the question on three message boards and not had any response. despite this issue, I’m still totally stoked. going to raise a support ticket with Behringer

Hi everyone! We made a review on the RD-6, based on the current firmware 1.0.3. In the video we programmed some Aphex Twin on it and we even slapped 80s gated reverb on a Phil Collins Pattern  It worked surprisingly well…

And another one in case you need more info on Song Mode / Track Write Mode (also very useful for 606 owners), copying and pasting patterns, and syncing the RD-6 to other devices.

according to GS, new firmware is out and it looks like they fixed the sweep erase function that I was groaning about.

New Features:

  • Support manually adjust OH decay: When the INSTRUMENT control is in OH position, hold FUNCTION then turn the TEMPO control to manually adjust OH decay. When the INSTRUMENT is not in OH position, hold FUNCTION then turn TEMPO control to make the OH decay change with tempo automatically (this is the default setting).
  • Add sweep erase function, when playing in PATTERN WRITE mode, press/hold CLEAR to remove steps of selected instrument.
  • Record MIDI IN notes while playing in PATTERN WRITE mode.
    Improvements:
  • Fixed the no CLAP MIDI note output bug.
  • Responds to MIDI notes when sequencer is playing.

Any examples out there comparing the RD-6 with the TT-606?

I have a question regarding triggering the RD-6 with a TR8S. It works fine so far but I have noticed that when I stop the TR8S and restart playing the sequencer of the RD-6 does not automatically reset and instead continues from the step where the sequence formerly had stopped.
Is there some kind of option where I can have it auto-reset its sequence? Or is that just totally normal trigger behavior. I do not know much about triggering.
Pressing the little plastic button in the lower right corner with several descriptions underneath it manually resets the sequence, it is just a bit of a hassle. Also having the TD-3 in the same trigger chain and that one does not seem to offer the manual sequence reset which is even worse.
Thanks if anyone has an answer.

Yeah, when syncing via CV, most gear will start and stop via a clock input, but needs a separate input for resetting the sequencer. Doesn’t look like the RD6 or TD3 have a reset input, so you have to do it manually on the gear itself, via the bar reset button, presumably.

Thanks Fin!
And just for my understanding, with each CV trigger the sequencer of the RD-6 will go one step ahead.
I.e. when I for instance do not activate all 16 steps of the sequence in the TR8S the RD-6 sequencer will only advance one step further when the TR8S reaches an active trigger. It is not the case that the RD-6 sequencer is continuously running but only hearable on active triggers.
Just asking because what might be fine with the TD-3 caused a chaotic mess with the RD-6. :stuck_out_tongue:

the ā€˜sync in’ on the td3/rd6 is a trs input.
the tip is clock advance/tick
the ring carries a run/stop (reset) signal.

Thanks, I have to check the cable at home.
Thinking it is TRS and not TS but still need to check and make sure.

I just got one and love it. There’s something really nice about the big chunky box. I’ve done a few mods to make the clap louder and give the sounds a bit more body (almost destroying it at one point), and it sounds even better now. Really chuffed with the RD6!

Here’s my video on the RD-6. I put off getting one for ages because it seemed so limited (just like the original), but here’s what my reasoning was…

Perhaps self justiciation, but still.

Does a Devil Fish equivalent exist for the TR-606 as it does for the TB-303?

There’s a voice in my head telling me I should give this gear a go. A short while back I was about to buy the Behringer TD-3 and RD-6, but they announced the TD-3-MO just as I was about to buy.

It got me wondering whether Behringer would release an RD-6-MO as well. Seems logical, but being new to the scene and knowing very little history on the subject, I don’t know whether there’s an officially recognised Devil Fish equivalent for the TR-606 to start with, and I could be waiting for nothing if it turns out there’s no such thing.
