Behringer RD-6 606 clone

And then there is this - the 608

Sadly so underground it hurts (i never found one…) search for Hainbach 608 on YouTube and you’ll get sorted with GAS.

I’ve Modded my TR 606 with the Tubbutec Unipulse Kit which gives you MIDI and more Soundvariations , see here:

I soo love my tr606 but it loves eq’ing, compression and saturation for a very good taste

sheesh!

What more can you imagine for a 606 on Cokesteroids
This is dedication!

Wow, definitely a beast and I agree that’s some serious modding dedication right there!
I don’t see a price anywhere but I’m guessing it must cost a fortune!

I doubt Behringer could squeeze that lot into the body of the RD-6 but I suppose they could add the most useful mods to make an RD-6-MO.

A bunch of neat mods here:

I’m doing the hihat mod, at the very least.

That’s a great link, cheers!

I wasn’t planning on making my own mods though. I like the idea of Behringer doing it all at the factory, so I think I’ll buy a TD-3-MO and RD-9 for now and see how it goes.

I wish there was a mod to make the damn thing smaller - just a sound module.

Otherwise find a tiny sample playback box

Hello,

I am using a sequencer (roland MC-50) with my RD-6 and using pattern chain or songs.
When I stop the sequencer, the RD-6 stop also but stay in the current pattern.
And then when I start again from the MC-50, my sequencer starts from the begining as intended, but the RD-6 resume where it is, and the sequences are not matching anymore

Is there a way to automatically go at the first pattern, without to push manually clear on the RD-6 ?

Thank you

the only options are visible in the app… i think what you need is to resend the pattern 1.
its got very basic midi for start/stop/transport controls.

maybe sequence the drum triggers from mc50 (i dont know mc50 … but sequencing everything from one device will at least remove your issue)

Yes for now, I sequence everything from MC-50 and use RD-6 just as a sound module.
But I would like to :

  • free a track from my sequencer
  • only programming 4 bar sequence for the drum loop (instead of programming the all sequence)

What do you mean by “resend the pattern 1” ?

Just got myself an RD-6 and enjoying it very much. Works well with Digitakt - RD-6 into one input and TD-3 into the other for reverb/delay fx. The clap/cymbal volume difference is a bit annoying so I might try doing the mod some time.

Here is my first jam with it:

Been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. I know all the limitations - zero editability, just one sound, etc. I already have a DT and Tonverk, so I’m really all set with good samples and sequencing, but there’s something to the simplicity of this that I’m drawn to.

So for those of you who have had one now for a while, what are your thoughts? Do you still use it? Like it?

It’s not any simpler than sequencing on DT really. Owned one briefly but sold it pretty fast. What I do is buy used and sell for the same price.

I would say buy second hand and give it a try. They are silly cheap on ebay if you wait. I’ve had one and would get one again. Can’t remember why I sold it.

It’s simple for sure, but for me that simplicity doesn’t translate into playability, or fun. Maybe something to do with the feel, build quality. I prefer sequencing it externally.
It sounds great though, and for 60 euros used I couldn’t resist it as a DIY project thanks to Maffez’s numerous circuit bending hacks that can give you much more control and variation.

I got an RD-6 because I love the 606 sounds and quite a few of my favorite songs / artists use it. Love the 606 so much I actually got an OG Roland so I’m now thinking to keep that 606 relatively stock, just individual outs, it already has holes drilled, and maybe a Tubbutec Unipulse. Given how cheap the RD-6 was I may consider the Maffez’ mods as well, and the DR-110 style handclap is worth keeping it for too.
