First of all, get out of the ocean, then google sea spiders, then never go back into the ocean again.

Here are some ants, not sure what species, Myrmica something. They accidentally came inside during winter in a potted plant. Part of a colony I suspect, the rest being underground. It is in the laundry room and they keep close to the pot so it is no problem.

Lucky for them I have special ant food that I give my pet ant colonies. But since they are in a fridge hibernating they have no need for it right now!
I also give some proteins, today some ham that were gone when I came back to look.

I went a bit overboard with the filters i realize.
Im using a new microscope lens addon for my phone and its great, I cant wait for spring so I can photo lots of buggos!

What pets do you have hibernating in the fridge? :open_mouth:

More ants!

7 colonies. I have disconnected their outworlds, so it is just the nests in the fridge. Once a week I open the fridge to water the nests.

I’m from Sweden and all ant species here require hibernation to do well. So the entire hobby takes a break from november to march.

It’s finally warming up and the bugs are coming out!

And a pic of one of my ant colonies, the nest they have make them the easiest to photograph

I’m using a clip on lens for the phone, this one is called “Apexel 120x jewel lens” or something similar.

Some little buddies at the airport in Singapore. Fun little diversion while waiting for my flight last month.

Oh nice. Those shots are excellent!

Some photos I took with my Olympus 60mm lens. Used to have higher resolutions of these photos before Flickr decided to erase it all without me paying attention to their spam emails. :see_no_evil:

Made the mistake of leaving my tent open whilst camping near the sea in Hawaii and was bitten by one of those in my sleep. Fucking agony…like a bee sting x10. The worst part was I had no way of checking its deadly / non-deadly status at the time, and was in an extremely isolated spot (in the middle of the night)

Meanwhile a friend is currently recording the sounds of money spiders for a documentary

Thank you!
It’s a Fujifilm X-H2 and the Laowa 65 mm 2:1 Macro Lens. The flash is a cheap Meike MK-320F and a DIY Diffusor .

each time i look at those highly detailed images of insects, a documentary or anything that might involve nature in any way; it always amazes me to see how it can create pretty much anything working at any size (especially when it’s something really small), it’s really interesting to be able to see what’s outside of our own human perception/what we take for granted…imagine what would someone from the medieval age for instance think of any of the pictures posted in this thread :grimacing:

I had a similar Idea a few Weeks ago when admiring a blossoming Cherry Tree. These Colours, also from other Flowers, are really something exceptional. But we don’t see them as such anymore since seeing these Colours has become trivial, maybe even a chore. People from a few hundred Years ago would probably see nothing but dull earthen Colours all Year long only to get blasted by an unrivaled and otherwise unachievable explosion of bright Colours once Spring comes along.
