Ok yeah, that works for me! I use Utility all the time, when you say summed back to normal stereo at the output of the rack, I don’t need any separate re-encoding so long as I’ve got the sides-only and mid-only instances in the rack?

Yes. A rack wth 2 chains - one full mid, one full sides; followed by whatever FX you want in respective channels, is enough

If you want to do mid/side in the same stereo plugin (outside the rack) u would need to decode it back, otherwise ur panning will be messed. Didn’t say it couldnt be done just it can be a faff

it’s on sale at thomann I believe, the upgrade that is.

I’d like granulator 3 as I use that quite a bit but I’ve been happy with 11, so may just upgrade at 13, not particularly bothered about it. I’m likely overlooking some of the quality of life improvements tho.

Yeah it’s Ā£20 off for Standard 12 to Suite 12, making it Ā£279, but I’m going to hold off until Friday to see if Ableton has a better offer.

oh I thought I read it was more than that. yes definitely wise to wait till the capitalist celebration day.

I think the upgrades from earlier number versions have a better discount than the 12 to 12 upgrades for some reason.

I think you could find a 2nd hand 12 Suite license for that money and then sell your current 12 Standard…

EDIT: or maybe not, usually there’s more ā€œqualityā€ sellers with better prices

Midi generators/transformers are nuts – but anyone else have the issue sometimes where moving across different tracks the generators/transformers settings are synced ? (e.g I change parameters on one track and the same parameters are changed on another)

Does this happen with factory devices, or 3rd party ones?

Perhaps there are some ā€œcode tricksā€ that need to be used to make the settings bound to clip/track?

Seems to be all of em on my end

Best write to support (support@ableton.com) and report it. I never used them - and can’t check now - so don’t know if it’s normal, but it doesn’t sound like it :frowning:

Yeah I think this is just how they work? That’s what I’ve seen when developing my own Max generator at least. But agreed it would probably be nicer if it was tied to the track or something

This looks interesting. I use this technique a lot, but mainly with vocals and textures. So this could be a simple solution for me if I go Push 3SA.

Hi everyone. I’m trying to use my multisampled keygroups from MPC directly in Ableton (due to the ease of making these multisampled instruments using MPC’s Auto Sampler). It doesn’t look like Sampler supports these types of files. Does anyone know how I can convert these multisampled keygroups without needing to take the individual sample files and manually create a ranged multisample instrument in Sampler? Does anyone know how I can easily create a multisampled instrument in Sampler without needing to manually create a midi file with an ascending scale, sampling the instrument playing the scale, assigning the samples to key ranges……………?

Check this guy’s website - I believe he made a tool to convert between various kit formats (I can’t check at work because firewall blocks it):

Nice! This looks to be exactly what I’m looking for— unfortunately, the .adv preset that it outputs doesn’t seem to be able to be loaded in Live (I get an error saying as much) even when I have the preset and samples in the proper location in my user library.

Has anyone ever used this tool and gotten it to work?

Can anyone test this?

I want to save a FX rack with 2 instances, where i put Shaperbox3, where i just set volume automation, The rack selector is modulated with a random LFO, so the rack should hack the audio in various speeds.

The problem is now: Live crashes repeadetly when i try to store the rack in my user libary.
I.e. reproducably.
