Honestly, I don’t need the extra features, but I did get a new job so maybe I should save up a bit and buy it.
Congrats on the new job! I do know that you def don’t need it to make awesome beats, you’ve got that covered already
It’s definitely worth the the extra cheddar, there’s some superb content included and the native devices and instruments are excellent…
Is it actually a “wrapper” or is it more like someone just spent time creating a M4L skin linked to the plugin parameters?
I think I’m fine just using the plugins and enabling the features I’d like to tweak. It’s easy enough as it is.
Some others already took a deeper dive on this same topic:
definitely a M4L warpper, it requires the vsts being installed, I think that every control you can bind to a macro can be accessed with M4L so probably the native plugins can be wrapped too, although not 100% sure.
that’s what I define as a wrapper check out his demo video: https://youtu.be/wuCKGiVC0OQ
I think inline controls are really easy to use compared to opening a window, but it’s a personal preference… btw, you can see in the demo that the controls on the inline device are directly exposed to automation, which is super nice as you don’t have to open a window to find a specific knob or scroll through many automation lanes, you probably can just click it and it will take you to the relevant automation lane, I think it’s a very nice implementation!
For Ableton « stock » devices, no.
But .amxd devices (aka the m4l devices) can be loaded in Max.
Cheers, that would be a pretty rad feature
Did I miss something or is it not possible to edit audio clips in Session view? Like delete/slice etc
not as far as I know, you can only loop / warp markers, for chopping you need to get it to arrangement.
what you can do is right click slice to midi (drum rack) and use it to chop up / rearrange stuff, but it’s not the same…
Will there be any discount around Christmas? Can remember on a juicy one beginning of the pandemic …
Ableton usually goes on sale for Black Friday-Cyber Monday, and I think Christmas. The past few years, it is like 25% off during those windows.
Okey got it, thanks! I’ve been trying out Bitwig where that’s possible, so I just thought it would work in a similar way.
I want to upgrade from Lite to Standard because Lite is almost unusable comparing to the Standard and 25% off will be very welcomed by me
It’s currently on a 20% sale, do you think it will be more discounted on the actual black friday?
Highest I’ve ever seen, once, for Ableton is 25%. Someone else mentioned 40%, pretty sure that is only for educational licenses.
I may have overlooked something obvious, but is there a key command to stop recording into a clip while keeping the sequencer running? This is very easy on Push 2 (just hit record again), but when on the MacBook Pro I find having to tap on the clip to stop recording to be fiddly and annoying! I would much prefer a key command.
I don’t think there’s a keyboard shortcut for clip stop button, but you definitely can assign a manual one, of course you would need to assign to every track you are recording to.
for example you can save a template with all the clip stops assigned to Cmd+1, Cmd+2 (or Alt+1, Alt+2 on windows/linux) etc so you’ll know what track you are stopping.
Is there no way to set that to ‘active track’?
don’t think that it’s possible because you can record several tracks at a time, but you can set a shortcut for “stop all clips” on the Master channel stop button, but this will stop all clips from recording/playing…
The session record button (to right of main rec button, hollow circle icon) does what Push’s record does. Use that instead of individual clip’s rec button.
