Exactly. The one thing I was sure they would have “fixed” in this version. Flow 8 still being the GOAT
It seems there’s a SUB bus and headphones out can be used as a Cue out, so we’re good!
Great to hear. Is it possible to send tracks to the submix out while excluding them from the main mix? So as to hear 100% wet stereo hardware effects (which then come back in on a separate input pair)? Assuming yes but want to be sure.
Yes tested that too !
Since it’s a digital device, I suppose they could have made a “virtual” button to make those 6 volume knobs (or 8 on the max) control virtual tracks out. Not sure if that would run into hardware CPU and card write limitations, though. Also, could be confusing from a UI perspective given that they’d be in the same location as the input jacks.
If you’re needing a lot of hardware buses, it’s going to take up channels and CPU regardless of the unit. They need to leave some CPU headroom in their design for the price point.
For those with the L6 Max, how is the sound quality on the headphone and submix outs?
With my L6, the headphone output is noticeably lower quality compared to the main outs (muddy, less definition).
I don’t think iOS (at least as of 26) has the ability to aggregate audio devices, only macOS right now.
Ok then I mixed it up.
Thx for the clarification
Sub out seems fine but I haven’t A/B’d it with the main out. I have been using it to sample/resample into DTII and have no complaints so far.
Firmware update for L6max.
Functions added in Version 1.1… 3
Adjusting the USB output level in audio interface mode… 3
Applying internal effects to the SUB-MIX / MIX MINUS…5
I was interested in the L6 but was trying to just chill out a bit, but now that the Max is out I’ve got a use-case that fits perfectly for it and I just can’t resist. A local vendor inexplicably has a bit of a BF discount on it, so I decided to give it a shot. They’ve got a 14 day return window, so I’ll focus on putting it through some paces and decide if it’s the right move or not.
Zoom LiveTrak L6max - BimotorDJ - In case anyone else wants to take advantage of the deal. Not a huge discount, but something.
Plugged everything in last night and the L6 max is wonderful. The OG L6 is great but the sub out does all the work for me (in absence of stereo aux sends).
I have DT2/DN2/Tonverk/Minifreak/Juno going into in, and then I submix whatever I want into the ins on Toneverk and push that through a bus onto the Polyend Mess and then back to the L6 max. Endless ways to mangle sound. Sound quality is great, screen is a meaningful addition because you don’t need an app anymore, and the encoders are pleasantly more stiff than on the OG one. Great upgrade to an already awesome device.
This is very promising -
can you please let me know if the headphone output is loud enough?
If having the pot half way and being able to grab any sample I like is “loud enough” than yes, it is :). In all seriousness though, all good on that front.
Edit
Crap, I thought you meant the sub mix output. But same answer applies — it drives 80ohm dt770proX cans and works great.
Fucking what? An actual discount on bimotor which is not just price matching thomann? Thanks for the heads up
Since the headphone amp is tied to the master out, ‘loud enough’ depends on gain structure, in my experience of using it live quite a few times
it is more to due to the type impedance of the headphone output - can it drive all sort of headphones? or only those with low impedance?
so the question is - is the headphone output loud enough to work/mix only with headphone?
for example the headphone of the mackie 1202 is quite loud, it drives pretty much all cans
I have an L6 Max and have an issue where if I record something, the L6 will reset to whatever settings I had when the recording was made whenever I power it on (as opposed to keeping the settings from when it was last powered off).
For example, if I mute all channels and record for 5 seconds, then all channels will now be muted whenever I power on the device. If I unmute them all and power-cycle, they go right back to being muted again.
Just curious if any other L6 Max users have run into this? Talking to Support and it was confirmed that this is not intended, but not sure if it’s a firmware problem or a HW issue….
Mine does the same. Saving a scene with them unmuted and recalling it works.
Thanks! I think it’s definitely a software bug then (Support said it should revert to the same state you powered -off in, no matter what).
