My use case is plugging in a few synths for my DAWless and using headphones to monitor + recording the master (separate tracks recording is a bonus for me).
There’s no better device on the market if one wants to keep it simple and portable. I think the build quality is excellent. It’s light, but sturdy, plastic, but not cheap. Everything’s really OK about this device.
Thx, didn’t know that this is defined in the hardware for the L6. I assumed this can be changed in the firmware since other interfaces can switch sample rates.
I have an 802, and I really love it. One less stereo input than the L6, but of course it has lots of other stuff in its place. It’s not exactly a halfway point between the L6 and a 1202, but the difference is not insignificant.
Headphone only get a copy of the master track without indepent volume ? Or am I missing something ? I only used it through the master output, but is it really impossible to listen via headphones only (pre fader) without sound in the living room ? So what’s the point then ?
I suppose the point is that you don’t carry a pair of monitors when using it as a portable device when travelling. And they had to put the comp after the master level. Zoom probably chose to have the comp result listenable in the monitor output…
@ccr monitor volume depends on the master level unfortunately.
The only workaround I found to get a sort of pre fader listening is to use the auxes.
Thanks to @virtualpt, I discovered that auxes can be set pre/post per track in the app.
Nope, at least not at mine. Well, or I must own a faulty unit. In that case, it would be a quick retour. I love the form factor, so I definitely replace it.
Exactly. I’m now routing my master out into an audio splitter (headphone amp) where I can adjust the volume independently. But this mimimizes its biggest advantage: small form factor. I love zoom mixers (having owned the L-12 and L-20, but I didn’t expect that at all (which is the reason I effectively did not check this before buying it, as it seemed a no-brainer to me).
I have all my synths patched into the L6, along with the Digitak 2. I monitor the sound through the headphone output. So far so good.
I thought to myself, why not use the stereo monitor output to feed the audio in in the Digitakt 2 so I can sample everything that is coming through the mixer.
The problem is, as soon as I increase the volume just a bit, I get a ton of feedback in the headphones. (I created a loop, I get that :))
Is there any way I could make this work? It’s a pain to disconnect the Digitone 2 from the mixer and plugging into the Digitakt 2 when I want to sample something.
I think you can set the MON on the sampling page to off or n/a. But i don’t know if that helps. Feedback loops are tricky sometimes. You think you have the solution but then…
Ha! It worked! Not sure why, but it worked. I’m getting sound despite the mixer in being set to 0. The Mon is set to Post mix. If I set it to Pre, the feedback is present. Still, it works.
Technically, isn’t that a bug in the Digitakt? Maybe I should let them know? Asking because my knowledge of mixers etc is very rudimentary and maybe this is (not)working as intended.
