Zoom LiveTrak L6

Thank you.

Does the fact I’m using mini jack to 6.3 ts plugs change anything? Because I am :). Both got input and output on the nts3.

I have old iPad mini with iOS 15. It shows all ins and outs in aum. I didn’t do anything special. It was just like this automatically.

A stereo minijack to two mono 1/4 jacks from the NTS3 is fine. You need to find a way to duplicate the mono aux send so it enters as stereo on the NTS3 input. A Guitar pedal with a mono input and stereo output before the NTS3 would do the trick.

Apologies and thank you for the help, I feel like I’m unable say what I want to say :).

I’m using a 2x TS 6.3 plug to TRS mini jack cable — that goes into the sends on the mixer and the mini jack into the In on the NTS.

Then, I’m using an identical 2x TS 6.3 plug to TRS mini jack — that comes out of the Out on the NTS and goes into a free channel on the mixer.

So technically all the relevant holes are plugged :). But when I use the sends knob on the mixer and then use the pad to add an effect, nothing happens — the sound is audible but remains unaltered.

I’m 99% sure I’m doing something dumb because the NTS3 works and the mixer is — otherwise — fully operational.

Try testing those cables using the 1/4 jack outputs of any synth you have into the NTS3 input. Can you hear the FX when using the NTS3 speaker or using headphones plugged into the output?

Will do and will report back.

Edit:

Problem solved. Turns out it was a wonky cable. Thank you for guiding me towards the solution.

I made some tests today and got some strange results.

Setup : Iphone/Pad plugged in usb C, Zoom L6 midi out -> DNII in, keylab MK3->Zoom L6 midi in.

For some reason, it seems that midi received from usb c is not passed thru midi out of the L6. Can anyone confirm this behaviour ?

I got other strange results where midi in won’t be passed to out and usb…Then suddenly it worked.

I’m wondering if L6 has the ability to merge signals properly, reallyunot sure about that.

Thx.

I’ve had mixed results with L6 midi and ipad. I have not tested extensively enough but it seems some devices work and some don’t. I tried to sequence a volca fm2 from ipad through L6 and could not get it to work. I switched out the volca for my MM2 synth and it worked fine. I can sequence the volca fine using a different interface so not sure what the issue is.
EDIT- Also in this setup I’m using a MiniLab3 as a keyboard controller to the L6 midi in. The notes do seem to always pass through from the Minlab but I have issues with the notes from a sequencer on the ipad not passing through.

Yep, what’s curious is that I got a non working situation where loopy won’t pass any midi data to the DN but made the tap tempo of the L6 flashes accordingly sync infos…I tweaked the tempo for two minutes and it stayed perfectly matched. As soon as I unplugged the keylab, DN started to get get sync info…

After a bit of tweaking, trying different setups, I made the exact same config again and for some reasons it did not work…

Inconsistency at its finest !

I added an edit to my first response. It does seem inconsistent. This is not my primary use for the L6 so I haven’t spent much time troubleshooting further. It would be nice to have to option to use this way though.

Opened a ticket !

I have noticed that in AUM the L6 has 3 midi inputs and outputs. Only one is sending midi to other devices. And the l6 itself sends midi CCs when u turn a knob or something. I had to deactivate that when using it with my Digitone.

Found this behaviour consistant :

When using midi out mode : Out, midi data from usb c are output to midi out but midi in is muted.

When using midi out mode : Thru, midi data from usb c are muted but midi in is passed to midi out.

Thank you for this. So it seems the L6 cannot merge Usbc midi and the midi in to it’s midi out? I will open a ticket also.

It’s a feature request now !

My L6 arrived and i gave it a test run. Sounds great to my ears and i cannot believe how small it is. Amazing little unit!

Ya I just got mine. Hooked up 4 things to it and sounds great. Such a space saver.

I’m thinking maybe I should get rid of my Tascam Model 12 and replace it with an L6 and a Samson SM-10 rack mixer. I have a rack in my jaspers stand and it would free up a lot of space on my desk :grinning:

Any review of the L6 when used as an audio interface ? Any issue with latency or monitoring ?

  1. If I plug in two TRS cables (one L and one R), will it work okay or do they need to be TS cables? I have one that is dual TRS balanced and was going to plug the UDO Super 6 Desktop in through it.

  2. From looking at the manual, it looks like the L and R jacks always are only mono, despite it saying it takes stereo input. If I plug in a TRS with LR stereo in it (single cable), would it be converted to L or R mono (depending on which side it is plugged into)? Just wondering if I need to buy adapters or new cables to split some 3.5 mm TRS stereo into L and R dual connector.

  3. Are the AUX outputs only mono? I have the Mood MKII and it would be nice to route that to the MOOD and take full advantage of its stereo input.
