spoilerish response
I don’t mind seeing the events out of order. But it feels like one of the geoglyphs kinda spoils an actual main quest reveal. I got a bit miffed.
Also, the intended second region, you talking Gordon? It felt suitably 3rd to me

Alternate view on out-of-order quests: the real world is usually disorganized and confused. If things make sense it’s usually because you are embedded in some kind of power structure that is telling a particular story. So maybe there is something to this approach. Or maybe it encourages replay to get the story “right”, kind of like Groundhog Day.
At least that’s what I’d claim if it was up to me.
Yeah, People in stables and such started talking about stuff happening up there, which seems to be how the game guides the player. My exploration naturally took me up around Death Mouintain, so I decided to just do the quest while I was there. The minecart track switching of the Fire Temple is going to drive me nuts, my spatial reasoning skills break down quickly when things cover multiple floors. I think I’m going to just brute force my way through it.
This is fair, and normally I love stories told out of order. In this case, though, it spoiled what was clearly supposed to be an absolutely epic moment with lots of buildup. I got all the release with none of the rising tension or emotional connection prior. It was just “oops, [big thing] is going to happen!” but not in a “we’re showing you this to whet your appetite” way.
That whole quest narrative felt like it wasn’t told efficiently, imo
I FEEL like we’re talking about the same particular clip
Are you talking about the Blade Glyph at the south of the map?
90 HOURS! And I didn’t stray far from the main quests. Well worth the 70usd.
I knew to do them in order because that “symbols-in-order” is a well-worn Zelda trope. I tested it on the one closest to the room, and it was one of the bigger moments. I went straight back to take a picture. But I agree with @obscurerobot that our memories don’t occur to us chronologically: theyre very random and sudden, spurred by a faint connection. At the very least, a lot in this game is playing with the typical Zelda structures, and I appreciate that.
I did the Goron second too. The lead up was decent, but the temple itself was absolute shit. Boss was only ok.
Might have been my least favorite dungeon(the Rito one, while less annoying felt more dull)
The boss really challenged my entire spacial awareness. But the desert boss felt tedious with how easily it can one-shot you.
My next step is the main showdown in Hyrule Castle and I’m just not ready for that. Need to go rune hunting for a bit
So far i really like this game. But it’s like most Nintendo games, the story is bad imo. I try to read all the text to get into the mood but it’s so boring sometimes. But whatever, i knew this before and that’s not why i play this game. It still has a nice atmosphere.
I think it’s the one near the forgotten temple, it’s number 10 in the list of memories.
Honestly I think that was intentional on Nintendo’s part to get you to rethink your approach to looking for glyphs. I mean obviously that’s the next one anyone would go to.
Ha!! I’m probably 40-50 hours in, and haven’t touched the main quest short of a few things I needed to do, so I could properly get to full exploration.
I think the text is ok, but some of the voice acting, while decently done, reminds me of bad cartoons. Like Sonic the Hedgehog or something.
The Gordon dude straight up reminds me of Sonic, glad I’m not the only one!
I think the plot is bad, the story is functional, and the narrative is haphazard.
I think its funny that in the first game, Link is sent to the future; while the groundbreaking plot for this one is Zelda gets sent to the past.
Thats some next level thinking ![]()
Can someone give me a hint, maybe a town to explore or someone to talk to to discover how to navigate Hyrule Forest?
In a spoiler Hide Details caption, of course
I honestly nearly rage quoted the game last night in the tutorial area
Getting shall we say “up high” to reach a shrine just pissed me off no end! Out the way now and things have calmed down an dI’m back to enjoying things.
Keep in mind there are now other directions one can go to get somewhere.
DM me if you need more oblique strategies
Yeah this one was tough, I ran around that area for over an hour because I missed something very simple.
I’m stuck fighting a boss, and I haven’t played for two days. I like the puzzles beforehand, but the big fights just seem like a grind. I’m also early in the game, so I have very few hearts, and not enough tasty dinners prepared.
I think once I’m done here it’s back to ground level for some hiking and exploring.
Finished my second of the big regional quests (in the northeast). I’ve got to say, I was really not a fan at all, and I was just itching to get back to the regular exploration. It felt like an unwelcome interruption to the core of the game, some thing I didn’t feel at all with the first one I did (northwest). The game is definitely at its best when I am finding new things, navigating the world, and completing shrines.
I’m finding that I’m playing this very differently from BOtW. I don’t pursue the main quest at all yet, I’ve been to Kakariko and I’m exploring Hateno now. I’ve unlocked a few towers, did about 20 shrines or so, done a bunch of side quests, cave exploring and the occasional random visit to a sky island or two. Just hanging about, taking it real slow. Sometimes, I just let the game run in the background while I’m making coffee or thinking about something, sort of letting it me wrap itself around me.
I was very focused and goal-oriented with Breath of the Wild and kind of regretted that afterwards, as I finished the main quest too soon. Then I watched my kids play it after me, and they just spent time in the world as if it was their second home, and kept coming back to it after they’d done Ganon, because they just wanted to chill.
I’m going for that approach this time now and I’m loving it. I’m gonna make this one last. I have a feeling, it’ll be some time before I experience a video game experience this grand again.
