Your Setups (Part 1)

What desk is that on the right? The multi-tiered one?

Very cool! Two questions:

  1. Any recordings of this setup?

  2. What do you have mapped on the MX12?

here a couple things.
honestly this isn’t ideal for me but it is fun to improvise with!
i bought the rytm to test drive, and now i want to sell it and the dt and get a rytm mkii.
too many things going on here.
the rytm is still new to me so the mx12 is just set up on the default rytm mapping.

The mx12 is amazing. I had the pc12 yo use with my rytm, but I think the mx12 would be better.

very cool. What have you learned in terms of mixing? Especially the low end. How does that translate from what you mix at home/studio?

Bare in mind I’m 2 sessions into it, but;

From an individual part/sound perspective- less is more.

From an overall song perspective- less is more.

I know this probably sounds obvious, but it’s really telling when you are playing at 110dB+.
Space is king, that’s how you make impact with your sounds. It’s really cool feeling like you are ā€˜within’ the sounds, and you hear them differently… for example, bass sounds I might not have used at home thinking they were thin/light, suddenly sound perfect.

I purposely haven’t taken any existing tracks/ideas into these sessions, I wanted to create from scratch and play to the setup/environment. I just played some tracks I’m familiar with through the system off my phone so I could set the graphic EQ on the mixer.

So, it’s a work in progress. :v:

Quick tip, you should probably have those woofers in the middle, I made the same mistake going horizontal!

With kids invading my old studio, I had to box some of the equipment I have and try to keep it as minimalist and flexible as possible.

I can use my laptop only, go dawless with the Digitakakt and Digitone and the keystep is perfect for any mix and match.

This one… sweetwater.com/store/detail/WS7500RB--on-stage-stands-ws7500-wooden-workstation-rosewood

Don’t have it anymore though, outgrew it… bought another one, was way too big and said fuck it, make an investment and went custom with someone off etsy. Tired of desks not fitting my needs properly.

Thanks
Honestly I tilted them just to get more room on my desk. I’m getting new monitors soon.

Nice and clean up top. Those audio cables look really nice too - what kind are they?

That is lovely looking and compact. I was wondering though, about the decision to have a Model:Cycles and the double-Digitone, which seems like 3 boxes that do similar things. I’m not criticizing–just curious. Why not a Digitakt or Model:Samples instead of one of them? I guess the answer will probably have to do with the kind of music you make, so please do post some!
