Reminds me something… :
Sorry if I’m getting spammy but my couch setup keeps changing, even the cat seems to have lost me…
What a weird(and wonderful) machine!
Sucks that it’s not stereo though
I find these small one or two machine setups outside of the studio very inspiring tbh, and comfortable.
So after figuring out what my life is really about…
I am going to sell a bunch of stuff and do the unthinkable (to me atleast) and get 2 of each.
DFAM x2
Digitone x2
1010 Blackbox X2
and a single OP-1
The Digitakt was not what I expected tbh, I am sure most will think I am nuts but 2 DNs makes more sense to me especially paired up with a blackbox. The audio quality on those things is wild.
So yea… no pictures yet because I have not finished but soon I will have an update of what I am pretty sure will be set in stone for a while!
Who needs knobs anyway? pfft
LOLZ… that made me laugh.
It was cleaning time. I focused on the MD and the stand and totally forgot the OT knobs / dust when I took the picture!
since yesterday, my minimal live rig is Roland MC-707 only.
And I was thinking « man, this guy is really on another level with the OT, doesn’t even knobs or the fader anymore, what a pro »
They actually melted off during a really crazy session
The silver Voltron trinity!! Super cool, I was just mentioning this in another thread. Can’t wait to get my MM pieced back together and dig in.
Nice setup!
This is the most gear I’ve ever had in any setup and it’s as much as I’ll ever need. I use the Blofeld’s multi-mode to play several layers of the same voice with slight variations in timbre to create a chiming, full bodied sound (Sort of sounds like a mixture of rhodes piano and an electronic 12-string guitar/banjo) The analog heat is connected to my mixer’s effect send/return signal so that my synths and octatrack can have varying amounts of compression for better dynamics. This is the perfect setup for my “minimalist avant folk pop from the future” sound.
I’m really liking this combo. The only thing it needs is the 4U modular panel I’m still working on slowly. That will add just the right amount of flexible weirdness to this small configuration.
Haha, oh how often did I think exactly those words
I do wish you all the best with that. In my case, after some months I always come to the “hm, I wonder what [insert any piece of gear here] would sound like when I do this and that” - point
Sold a bunch of gear to streamline my setup and pay for a Lyra 8 (which is awesome). Now I can reach everything without moving!
Whenever I rearrange, how do I end up with this many cables left over? I should start selling them…
Haha. I’ve had many setups over the years (mostly a combination of samplers, effect units, and mixer), but I’ve always kept things relatively minimal. Having a few select pieces helps me to focus on learning my gear and to use it more creatively. There have been many times where I’ve switched out a piece of gear because I didn’t gel with it, but I’m sure I could have made it work if I had to. I mean, I doubt that anyone on this forum has ever completely tapped out a piece of gear’s full creative potential.
I often play with the idea of being stuck using only one synth, a sampler, and a basic 4 track recorder for the rest of my life. If I continued to be curious in this hypothetical scenario, what new creative avenues would I discover?
Synths? HA! Forget ‘em…
