Me too! In fact, I have been selling a bunch of stuff to offset the cost of the 2600, which is a new addition to the studio (after I foolishly sold my old one a few years back). But I have been doing this for a long, long time - enough for some stuff to become permanent.

I’ve only been into euro for a few years but I kind of feel like approaching it piece by piece and putting together my own thing wasn’t very helpful for me. I think along the way my focus was on building a system and trying to get things right, and although I learned quite a bit from it, I lost something along the way (other than money). I finally ended up hocking all of my euro and investing in a make noise shared system and I don’t think I could be much happier (although I still gas for some more modules here and there). Since I’ve had the shared system I’ve found myself having a lot more fun working within the constraints of a 7U system, I’ve made more music and videos than I have in a long time.
For the first month I tried not to alter any of the modules, but right now I’ve picked up an extra wogglebug and morphagene, tempi and brains. I kind of just switch things out depending on what I’m trying to do. For example I have a noise show coming up (my current stuff is kind of noisy but not like non rhythmic head bang to this white noise…) so I’m trying out 2 morphagenes so that I can focus more on sample manipulation and fx modulation. If I was to have an ambient set I might swap out a morphagene for the pressure points to add a little more human expression.

my blacks have to match so this was an attempt to keep me from spending too much time mixing and matching modules…although I can probably seem myself ordering at least one of the black grayscale panels and seeing how well it matches

I’m interested to know what modules you originally had and why you didn’t find it helpful going your own way at the start. I ask because that’s what I’m currently doing, for a focus on percussion.

that would be tough to list, i had the benefit of working with a shop so I got to demo quite a few modules. I also don’t live too far from a couple other shops that have sound arcades. I think at the beginning, grasping the concepts of modular synthesis was throwing me off and I was spending time recreating drum machines, traditional synths and sequencers using modules. too make things worse I spent a lot of time trying to integrate it in with the PC and/or Octatrack which just caused me to spend more time system building/testing. Nothing like spending hours troubleshooting expert sleepers and reaktor blocks to completely drain you of any creative juices. even after I would have things configured and ready to go, I would sit down and write music that would never go anywhere. maybe it was that piano roll or traditional step sequencer that was keeping me there idk.
the shared system just feels so balanced. ive had it since the end of october and I started off combining it with an array of pedals, and 2 months later I seem to be using just the shared system with slight variations on the bottom row. sometimes ill gas for a minute while away from it, thinking “oh if only I had ‘n’ module with ‘y’ function then I could do something amazing in my head”, then I get home, patch the shared system and realize I had that capability all along /shrug

Here’s mine. Going completely retro with the Oscillographic Block and an upcoming Sid Guts Deluxe, the whole lot being controlled by the NerdSeq tracker. The whole system fits in 6U, really happy with it as you just need to plug headphones and it’s able to spit out a whole track that blends retro 8bit sounds to the weirdness and uniqueness of going modular. The Rainmaker and Polaris are amazing at getting sounds to unusual places.
I really felt in love with the Oscillographic Block, it’s a very clever design around the old SN76489 Sega chip, very inspiring and fun. I put a collection of sound snippets from my instagram in there if you feel curious:

@Unifono i like your setup! i think i don´t need so many modules as well. of course it really depends on what you try to achieve with it.
as an addition to my a4 i think an math, wobble bug and dpo would be me just the right dose of west coast flavour.
how do you like mutable stuff and for what kind of sounds do you use them?

It certainly depends on your goals. My goal was to pack as many features as I possibly could into 3U and stop there (I know what many will think now 
)
I was planning this little thing for quite some time, but this year all the DIY micro modules appeared, which was a gift for me. 3U are filled up very easily
Maths, wobble bug, dpo are great modules for sure. I’d add an optomix, but yeah that would be a really nice addition to the A4.
I love all the mutable stuff. He is a genius. However, sometimes I think about replacing Braids, Warps and maybe Rings by analog stuff (a complex osc for example) cause this may probably make the difference soundwise to my computer stuff. But in the end, these are crazy feature packed modules with lovely sounds.
