Make Noise MultiMod - part of some Universal Synthesizer System that may never see the light of day eh?
Some videos of people running audio through it also, I guess you can kinda do a mutated version of it with squid salmple as it does live looping and DC recording but yeah you probably wouldnāt use all you squid outputs for DC
yikes another make noise power hungry module that my old cv bus case canāt handle T_T
time for a new case i suppose
I got mine and having crazy fun pushing Morphagene through it. The different shapes have an effect on playback and lofi-sound, plus it basically adds another vari-speed that can be weighted/scaled across the different output.
Itās a mult on steroids.
Looking for some help on finding a case:
I want to change my two make noise skiffs into a 6u or 7u 104hp case which I can fully close to safe the modulus from dust.
I have my mind on the Make Noise case and the Intejiel case.
-
Make Noise: Some reviews at thomann / music store said it has trouble with knurlies due the dust safer rubber ring around.
-
Intelijel: you get the 1u row. So I place the o_c on this row and also a mult and maybe some other stuff, which I already have but not for 1u, so I have to buy 1u versions ⦠and my bank account dont like that. Okay one could get blind panels instead.
Does anyone have some experiences with these cases and want to share pros & cons? Also open to other recommendations! Case should be lightweighted and fit into the Intelijel 7u bag.
I have an Intellijel 7u case and a Befaco 7u case. I like the Befaco a bit better, as I feel like the busboards are better placed for switching either rows around, itās got great power and you can vesa mount it!
Here is an old pic of mine floating above my 2600m
Edit: it comes with their version of a decksaver that you can put on while patched to keep dust from getting on it.
Clank modular cases are top notch!
Canāt recommend them enough, their power distribution is awesome as well and it supports i2c if youāre into that sort of thing!
Decent pricing too. I hate when vendors donāt display pricing, but I was pleasantly surprised to see ā¬1,560.00 for x2 7U 104hp cases.
I donāt know that Iāll go this route, but Iām definitely keeping it in mind for the eventual move from x2 Brute Rack cases to something bigger.
i can tell you that the quality is great as well and you can order extras to your cases as well (lights etc.)
Im on my third case after selling all my modular twice and the quality has always been fantastic!
I have the older Make Noise 7u case (not the new one with the upgraded power) and can confirm that Knurlies are a problem for closing the case ā you could use them on the inner row but not around the edges, because thatās where they run into the rubber ring.
Itās a nice case, feels light yet sturdy, but I think there are better options nowadays. If you do decide to go with the Make Noise case, I would definitely recommend the newer version because the power limitations of the old one are no fun.
I also have a Pittsburgh Modular Structure 208, which is awesome. Much heavier since itās all wood, but also a much better power supply. Doesnāt have any of the amenities like built-in jacks like you see on other cases, but if youāre just looking for a reliable case with loads of power, it does the job.
It looks like a newer more advanced (or at least more flexible) version of the ModCan CV Recorder module.
Nice!
We only had a very short maybe three email conversation back in maybe 2005, but Mark was pretty instrumental in me starting to design circuits.
(allowed me to base my first project (258 clone)) off of his interpretation.
I think his exact response was, "Yeah, go for it! (as long as I donāt have to answer questions about it from anyone). ![]()
Nice setup!
thatās awesome! his old buchla blog is a wellspring of synthesis inspiration. you can even see tony from make noise in some comments asking for assistance with the 259 circuit. verbos has really done a lot for the modular community at large
hereās a quick pic of the updated voltage multistage - hopefully released this year at superbooth!
And he learned from grant richter of wiard fame⦠kinda funny how far the eurorack scene has come and yet I still sit down at my old wiard 300 and feel itās as wild and fresh as ever.
I really find the frac wiard blacet yahoo message boards era pretty fascinating. Those guys were kind of were keeping the modular flames alive in obscurity.
I always had discussion with the guy from mdr. I looked into it recently, but my country no longer receives shipments from Russia for the moment.
Really like the cases, and the stand is nice, too.
If you reach out via email he provides all the options and pricing info.

totally agree, same with the serge and buchla yahoo groups from back in day. one of my favorite things is going through the 10-15 year old posts on the banana systems picture thread on mw, when these things were far from cool/popular and the entry starting price on a serge panel was like⦠$4500? and when 200e first released and was absolutely shit on, 261e development, verbos 258v release, etc
Having a bit of fun with Multimod, while trying out play option 1 (momentary play pmod 1) and practicing my setup/takedown cameras game. I have some work to do for consistently capturing sound. 1010music Bluebox and iPad/iPhone donāt alway play nice.
Multimod goes wiiiidddde.
