Your modulars (Part 1)

but confusing AF to figure out how to use! I have Abstract Octocontroller and it makes me scratch my head why they did not put a small LCD menu screen on it!

Hey all I’m needing some help here, got all my Erica Synth modules set out on the floor for a first time put together with the acc/trig cables attached but it saying I need to move jumper switches on the back of each module to either 1 or 2 position

1 - Internal Sequencer
2 - External

There seems to be tiny dots on the back so what am I supposed to move please it looks delicate I don’t wanna snap anything off? Any ideas.

Hope that Trig cable is the right way up too :exploding_head:

Thanks

JP1 is next to the 6 pin connector.
It’s set for internal accent.
Move it down a pin if you want to use accent from the Seq.

Hi all,

So just as I thought, I need another case I haven’t even started putting modulators/clocks etc in yet and the first one is full.
So here is the start of my modular journey switching from hardware after 30+ years. I’m very excited but waiting on other modules out of stock.

So here’s what I have so far.

PS

Sorry you mean move it down if I want to use it like the Techno System settings?

Thanks

Yeah, I believe it’s only for the accent pattern.
In down position it should use accent patterns from the sequencer and ignore the front-side accent input.
I’m not familiar with the Erica sequencer though…

Thanks mate I’ll give it a try, got 18 days off so plenty time to try stuff around

It appears that the default JP1 setting has the jumper in the position shown below.

This enables the accent input on the front of the Bass Drum module. If you want to trigger the accent from the Drum Sequencer instead, carefully remove the jumper from the top two pins and reattach to the bottom two pins.

Judging by the Sequencer circuit board, the trigger pins are at the bottom of the six pin headers with accent at the top. This suggests* that if the stripy end of your trigger cable is at the bottom of the Bass Drum Module header, the stripy end should go at the top of the corresponding Sequencer header.

*I don’t have either module to test with, unfortunately. Hopefully someone else can confirm this.

Thanks alot you guys… you know what I was doing was looking for a tiny switch and it was a damn little plastic cover to pull off and move to the lower position duh! I got it now guys now I have to adjust the other modules.

PS

I don’t even think I’ll be able to test anything anyways as I have no output module/headphone module I need to wait for the mixers I think but I can set these up anyways.

If you have an audio interface, it might be able to handle hot modular levels if you turn the gain down low.

I have a Behringer Four Play VCA also Behringer UMC1820 and ADA8200
Do you know of any output module with Headphone out just so I can jam? I was just gonna buy a couple of those Doepfer 138s mixers as they have pan too.

Would you say this is comparable to Pam’s or the Acid Rain Maestro? Synced modulation seems like a category unto itself worthy of a comparison table like this:

I bought Noise Engineering Sono Abitus to replace the Link module on my upcoming Techno System. It has balanced line kevel stereo outs and a headphone out with separate volume controls.

Thanks mate I’ll check it out although I won’t get anything now till Tuesday but I will definitely order something before today is out.

Don’t you have a spare external (hardware) mixer lying around @rob_lee ?
PS ah you’d need a ton of 6.35>3.5mm jack cables of course which you probably don’t have. Never mind

My plan is to replace the Erica Synths Link module (8hp) with the Sono Abitus and a WMD MSCL compressor for live use. I will receive my second hand Techno System system in about 10 days - looking very much forward to it!

Yeah I have a lot of those cables I bought them from Thomann for the Arturia Drumbrute I think… got about 16 of those. Got hundreds of midi and 1/4" leads but no good to me now I guess.

I was gonna buy the Techno System but I wanted a different configuration so purchased all drum and sample modules and today just ordered the bassline module from Juno UK coming Tuesday.
I do fancy the Dual FX module tho… I’ll start on the other case next month no I have my drum setup.
