Your modulars (Part 1)

Are there any blank plates that extend the space on a Eurorack?
If not someone steal my idea and send me one free!

3U is about 13,3cm which isn’t much space to place other gear on.

Haven’t you heard the modules on YouTube like I did hence I bought them?
Well they will eventually be heard however I now to to shop for a load of patch cables and more. Audio will be uploaded when I complete the system and have some decent jams for sure. :+1:

Don’t have either of the modules you mentioned, but I do have the ADE and use it in virtually every single patch. Octo + VCA/attenuverters is a huge amount of modulation options. Have considered buying another one before.

These sound freaking awesome!

You could try taking outputs from you Behringer Four Play with levels at a low setting, straight into your UMC1820 inputs with line level/pad enabled and low gain settings. Otherwise, there are lots of headphone out options on Modular Grid. I have a Make Noise Rosie but plan on replacing that with an ALM HPO or Bastl Ciao due to space constraints.

Oh yes that’s that fwack, Final(?) out shit right there. Love it.

That’s a Juno emulation, right? I don’t know if any of the multifx has specifically Juno-based options, but chorus is super easy with short, LFOed delay times. Everyone should have an (analog) delay in their case; so versatile (ok I have a Rubberneck via SBG).

I think the weight of that DT on what is essentially a big lever would flip that plastic case! :grimacing:

The scaling is way off in that example, but you’re probably right.
Could be easily fixed with one of more legs underneath.

I don’t know. Haven’t tried those.
I ditched all that kind of stuff from my rack. Ditched a couple cases and just kept some FX and sampling mods.

I use ES-8 and FH-2 for all functions, LFOs and stuff like that that I can get from VCV or Blocks. Endless LFOs for example…synced or not. [im an advocate of hybrid setup]

So, I traded my ZOIA for a Panharmonium. Got the Panharmonium but the other person never received the ZOIA so I had to return the panharmonium so now I have a panharmonium sized hole in my rack and am wondering if I should just go all in on modulation.

Basically the only sound making modules is assimil8or, MSCL and HPO and I quiet dig the concept of having lots of modulation options… so I’ve been thinking about Tides. I quiet like the idea of having a module which acts as a network of modulation.

Currently there’s a just freinds up on reverb as well (quiet expensive, but still interesting)

Does anybody have any thoughts on tides and just friends? You got any other tips for similar modules?

There will be a small Just Friends restock soon according to Mannequins Future page. I just recently came to understand what it does exactly; seems like good fun. Triple Sloths might also be worth a gander.

I don’t have one, but Acid Rain Maestro looks interesting.

Right, forgot about that one. It is an interesting concept for sure… not sure how I feel about the buttons, but it sure is interesting never the less

When I see the Techno system setup they set the sequencer to the far bottom right of the case however mine won’t stretch that far and I even got the longest cables for the AC/Trig but I’m falling about 12hp short, hmm they must have had custom lengths made for the Techno system the cables I got are 50cm
Oh well looks like I’ll have to shift a few things to get it all where I want them.

PS

Yes I’ll try the Four Play VCA tonight.

Thanks again mate

I’m somewhat allergic to grids of buttons myself.

You will either pay a lot for Just Friends or have a small chance of getting one. I put in for the last lottery and failed, but I did get a Three Sisters, which was probably the better outcome. JF seems somewhat quirky in its design.

I waited 2 years to get my Shared System and was fortunate that Detroit Modular had them in stock late last year. They sold quickly!

I have uTides. It’s great for what it does. Get the full size, so you can see the diagrams on the panel. They really help. I had a hard time with Tides for a while and I’m almost over it. It took a while to understand the modes part. I think if I did it over again, I might have gotten Maths, which would probably confuse me even more.
But yeah, Tides is cool. It does it’s own thing, unless you have an oscilloscope and can watch the forms… and that can give happy? Accidents.
I use quadraturia on my Ornament and Crime when I want precise modulation and I use Tides when I want happy, or unhappy accident’s.
It also acts as a great Oscillator. You can do chords with it I think, because it has 4 outs

Hi mate well Iv’e plugged in some modules and all have power so that’s a good thing. Deffo need another case to finish the setup with the modules I have still to come and some I can’t put in this case. I’m on course for my custom Techno system by July maybe but I’m sorted 100% for drums/samples/percussion.

It works

Just Friends is really, really good. Even though the manual makes it sound really esoteric (strongly recommend reading the hidden away technical map instead https://github.com/whimsicalraps/Mannequins-Technical-Maps/blob/master/just-friends/just-friends.md) there’s something really intuitive about having the six related envelopes/LFOs and having macro control over all of them + their relationships to each other. It’s basically a function generator combined with a clock divider, and somehow so much more.

It’s also a really beautiful oscillator - such a good osc in fact, that I’m strongly considering getting another when it’s possible just so I can use both the sound and shape modes at once. Also worth looking into the “Run” modes too - there’s a jack which gives you alternate behaviours for all 6 modes when you put a dummy cable in or a constant source of voltage (+/- 5V). You get a lot of bang for your buck. If this restock is happening, definitely worth trying your luck (the Mannequins scalpers take the piss with how much they list them for, even with how good it is).

That’s the part that really intrigues me with just friends and Tides.

Tge price on reverb isn’t to bad a bit over new prices, but with taxes and customs I think it would probably land at that sum anyways so….
