Your favourite external reverb and delay?

I am thinking about investing in a delay and reverb pedal and would like to hear your opinion.
I guess the top of the line would be a Strymon El Capistan + Eventide Space.

But are there any good and interesting alternatives that are more on the cheap side?
Id like one that can go really crazy and experimental but still be of good quality.
Any suggestions?

The Quadraverb is cheap and lush. Boss SE70 too.

As for pedals I like the HardWire RV-7 Stereo Reverb.

TC Electronics Hall of Fame!
Stereo I/O, and analog dry thru.

…if you ask that undefined, the list is going to be a long one…

so here we go…

i’d say…for reverb…first choice…strymon big sky…second choice,eventide space…

for delay…first choice…strymon time line…second choice…puh…well, what so ever…

as you see, i only recommend boutique guitar pedals…the all have a line signil option, too…
and they can really act like instruements of their own…
with all that knobs to tweak, these one really push your performance otptions while giving you hi end sound at the same time…

Strymon BigSky + Stymon Timeline

I think this might be what you’re looking for:

Eventide H3000 and Eventide Space… much more that reverb…

I’m using a Strymon BlueSky + El Capistan for ambient experimentations, I now tend to use the reverb in the delay (sound on sound mode) for really crazy results.

When talking budget pedals, Behringer RV600:

Stereo reverb pedal for free, basically.

Also, there’s a modification to do on the El capistan in order to have it working in stereo mode, it’s in mono by default :

Can’t go wrong with an Alesis Midiverb (ver 1), classic IDM lushness™ :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just bought a second Big Sky. I sold the first and then realised I didn’t want to live without the gloriousness of it.

I also own the El Capistan which is a delightful little beast.

Might try the reverb into delay sometime. Sounds good.

I assume if my mono Aux send is feeding the El Cap, there’s no point in switching it to stereo, whereas if the signal came straight from a machine’s stereo output into a TRS then it would make sense to flick the switch.

^That or you could find something Alesis made that you can find often on Ebay for dirt cheap these days and has everything the Midiverb has and MUCH MORE as it was considered more on the high end back when released and not cheap, it is called “The Alesis Wedge”.

I have an Eventide Space as well as two different rack units that are set on various send/returns/inserts on a couple keyboard rack summing mixers: Lexicon MPX110 and TC Electric M350 http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/M350
Both rack units as well as Eventide Space have really good MIDI implementations and all are either dual mono in/outs or stereo in/outs.

IMHO the best choice!
BigSky is really, really cool! My main reverb. Sounds more musically for my taste than Eventide Space.

Yeah, Alesis made some nice stuff back in the day, and all of it is dirt cheap now!
Eventide Space seems LUSH™™™ as well, I need to check it out. :alien:

You’re absolutely right!

I like it when my Eventide Space plays it a bit dirty…
I’ll keep it forever

I use only the reverb/delay of… the MachineDrum. I cue out the sound of the desired track of the octatrack to the MD, in order to use its FX. It enables nice dubby re-injections sync to the bpm… to the bpm… the bpm… bpm…pm…mmmm…mmpfffshhhhh…

:joy:

…if it comes down to this…

i got to mention on top, that the delay and in special the reverb in my a4, are the best built in / part of it fx units i’ve ever heard…
