Iām using a USB C cable to connect the Seqtrak to OP-XY. Is there a way to stop USB Audio monitoring on the Seqtrack because I get feedback.
Edit: Iāve tried toggling monitor mode, but itās not helping because it mutes everything. Also I tried changing sampling source to Mic / Audio In, and it still plays.
I basically wanna play my beat on the OPXY, send MIDI to a couple of Seqtrack synths, and route the audio back into the XY.
I guess I could send MIDI via USBC and get the audio back via audio cable, but I wouldāve liked the simplicity of 1 cable.
i tried one of these for less than an hour and then returned it to guitar center. the people working said it was the 3rd time it had been returned and i totally understand why. that thing is no good!
what immediately turned me off of it is the fact that playing four notes of a string preset made it distort in a super ugly way. like how are you gonna have a strings preset that cant play chords without tweaking the volume of the patch. found this to be a fairly common experience.
the keys suck, they are wobbly weird water bed keys. my gorilla hands kept pressing sequencer keys when trying to press the very weirdly placed power/play button. interesting combo choice.
also it is made of maybe the ugliest plastic i have ever seen. i had the white and orange one and it looked like someone took a bad 3D render and plopped it in the real world.

Havenāt really experienced the distortion thing you mention, but the magic for me is using it with a midi keyboard - it just opens it all up. I agree that the build quality is total trash, I would never take it out the house, but as a sound module and general sketch pad, itās totally worth it.

Iāve owned the Seqtrak for a very long time and have never heard any distortion (except in sounds where that was the intention), not even with a significantly higher number of voices.
Or are you talking about the sound of the built-in speaker?

No distortion on mine, itās a quirky device but surprisingly powerful, good OS updates too. I like it.

Iāve just bought one, at 150GBP it looks a bargain for what you get. Plus the resale value is so little that I wonāt think about selling it in moments of need like I have other items.

Any thoughts on SEQTRAK vs Ableton Move as a sound module?
Looking for something to sequence with a Metropolix solo with an emphasis on live tweaking synth parameters and wide range of synth options
The SEQTRAK only has one tweakble synth track (DX). The rest are sampler tracks (even the ones labelled synth). For what you want it, I think the SEQTRAK is a very wrong choice, despite being great in other roles.

yeah, Seqtrak wouldnāt be great for this, I havenāt tried the Move but with itās Ableton integration I assume it would be good for what you need.

The Move is also not that great because it doesnāt have a very good midi implementation. No CCs and no program changes up to the current firmware.
So itās fine if you want to sample directly what youāre doing but a little tedious for later recall.

Dare I suggest the Roland Sh-4D or the Waldorf Blofeld as good candidates for what you want at the same price range than the move? The Blofeld in particular with its 16 multitimbrality small footprint and an interface that begs for external control seems very well suited. No separate part audio outs in either of them, but that is also the case on the move.

In addition I would add the Micromonsta 2 (loved by many, i donāt know it personally) or the Kodamo Mask 1 Ex (I own that, but I am still in the honeymoon period)
They are both multitimbral and have a very solid midi implementation. The Mask 1 can also do layers in addition so you can use the 14(?) voices for 4 patches with 2 different melodies. I have not tried the split feature yet.

As stated,
the SeqTrak has a deep AWM2 sample based SynthEngine (similar to the Motif Workstation) but it requires deep sysex programming. There are a few options to use to program it (like the KDx UI). But that more for patch creators not for live tweaking, that is more basic on the device but most common parameters are available via CC.
One thing many folks do not get is how powerful and good sounding the effects section is on this box.
That allows a lot of tone shaping in a live Setup. Many parameters are exposed as CC here.
Maybe worth to check out.
Depending what kind of music you do and what live tweaking you want to do. With the SeqTrak the fast processes is to pick a good preset and than apply an effect. For a minimalist setup it is very powerful and good sounding. There are some good demos from artist on YamahaSynth Channel.

I connect my phone to the seqtrak to tweak parameters with the synth Iām usingā¦it works great and I love this thing as a sound module.
