Yamaha SEQTRAK

It struck me that the seqtrak is in its own “music production studio” section on their website. I’m sure its because they don’t want to lump it in with anything else, but it does make me wonder if they have anything else planned in the space.

They’ll be at NAMM in 9 days. Someone needs to ask them.

MC101 has full editing on board (which IMHO is pretty easy to use if you patiently scroll through LCD lines to reach what you want to adjust in a tone)

After my initial gas burst, MC101 still looks better for my usage as a smaller groovebox and very capable 4 part multi poly synth source.

£349 at Music Matters in the UK today.

Expected this Friday the 19th too.

It’s lighter than the far, far smaller Op-1f. Just 500g. And that’s one long chunky box.

It does now yeah. But full access to synth engine only came a short while ago. At launch and for a long time it was restricted to only the parameters available in the editing section, so essentially a rompler with some tweaks. 707 has always had the full engine. Heck the Zenology Pro VST wasn’t even available for a good long while so you were literally stuck with what you had of presets and limited editing

It’s refreshing to have a little bit of mystery and less bread tube gushing imo.

looks great, great price, just not heard anything yet that makes me want to pull the trigger, I’m sure somebody will come along soon and change that.

I’m seeing a $299 pre-order on these from Detroit Modular.

im most interested in the price differences between yamaha and the retailers. maybe this is my joe blow bumpkin brain talking but does that mean the yamaha price is based on what they think is appropriate for the market vs the retailers Reality price for the market

No. It’s so retailers like Guitar Center and Sweetwater can say “save $200” without running afoul of the FTC.

You can find lots of similar music gear for sale on manufacturer’s websites that is marked up from what you would pay from a retailer.

Ya…that’s odd…I love D.M though.

The QL! I tried to use one of those once and gave up when I couldn’t find the delete key.

that doesnt make sense to me because why wouldnt that happen all the time. this is the first time ive seen that big of a difference in MSRP and retail pricing. its 33% off.

got any examples? im not seeing anything remotely similar anywhere

yeah, i meant now.

It’s a neat feature. MC101 is a really great box. The sweetspot between the verselab and 707, depending on ones preferences.

I think Yamaha have failed here, considering their legacy.

It’s a half assed OPZ effort and a shape 8 times the size… They could have made something innovative and stunning and owned a new space with a QY for 2024.
