Charlie Clousser still hops on GS from time to time to give good insight. Alessandro Cortini was on Muffs, but I haven’t seen him around there for awhile. There may be some truth to the incognito theory. But at the end of the day, I think they’re just too busy making music.

Many do post (especially on Gearslutz). Many have stopped posting because they’re attacked on the boards by people who are probably jealous. There’s already one or two snide remarks about artists in this thread already.

Fortunately none of the photographers I socialise with use photo forums. We barely ever talk about gear. I mean, a camera is just a f#^#ing camera. You point it and shoot. Job done, get paid go home. If you’re lucky you might only be harassed by a dozen random people who want to tell you everything they know about your gear and why it sux. Thank you photo forums.
ps: I also have a pilot’s license
