I went with an SP as well. Can’t be beat. …but does anyone else find they need to jog the SP into the right tuning range by fiddling with the midi ext button and then fiddling with a bunch of keys? Seems any time I try to go CV-only the tuning will be so far out that fine tuning won’t have enough range to get it in tune. …That and the relative pitch from key to key is waaay off. Then I fiddle with midi and it snaps back to reality…
So, the midi note will set the relative pitch of the oscillators that the cv will add to or subtract from. If you were controlling it from another synth for example you’d want to set the midi note to the note that that synth sends 0 volts, usually a low C. If you want you can transpose it. The phatty still needs to be in tune for this to work so I usually flick on the auto tune while there’s 0 volts cv, let it tune, then turn fine tune to off. I have the LP but I’m sure it’s the same.
