Syntakt + Ambika.
(my Ambika is built with 3 different kinds of filter boards, since it’s used as 6 mono, or 4 mono + 1 duo)
Digitakt / Syntakt / Digitone / Analog Four MK2 / Micromonsta 2 / TD3 in a “performance flightcase” and connected to Overbridge on a Macbook Pro
I bought it second hand
Octatrack and a pair of monitors is all you need.
Just a small part of my new Techno Setup… still waiting on another TTA Mantis case to house my other modules.
Video or it didn’t happen.
here’s a first little loop
Is that the Michigan Synth Works version?
yes ! with midi and seperate output
I’ve been eyeing the SY-1 , was waiting for Behringer one, but also tempted by the Michigan version too (it’s back in stock ). Anyhow, I’ve just found a free version for the iPad… if anyone is interested:

I am using a half SY-1 by Michigan Synths:
SY0. 5 in modular format. Brilliant add-on to my setup. Analog voice, great for hats, sub, kicks and other percussion duties.
I just posted it in the “performance flightcase” thread but here is mine :
A4 MK2, DT, DN, ST and Micromonsta 2. I only produce techno : “Detroit-ish” techno and raw/hypnotic techno.
To sum it up :
I use an UDG XXL Flightcase (Mk1 version).
The MIDI routing is : DT -> ST -> DN -> A4 / DN -> MM2
The Audio routing is : MM2 -> A4 -> DN -> ST -> DT
It covers two use cases :
-
“DAWless setup” : To be able to play, I need connect the powerstrip and turn it on and connect the output of my Digitakt to a mixer. Then I only have to plug the MM2 USB to the USB HUB (next to the MM2) to power it too. It takes less than 1 minute to be ready.
-
“Full setup” : I plug the powerstrip, I connect all the boxes to the USB Hub and then I got it plugged to my Macbook M1. That’s what you can see on the picture. With this “full setup”, I have an Ableton template that allows me (with Overbridge) to manage all my Elektron boxes tracks separately (8 from the DT, 12 from the ST, 4 from the DT, 4 from the A4, 1 from the MM2). For now I only use Ableton as a Mixer and a FX box. (and for recording / arranging / mastering the tracks when I am producing)
It’s my “studio setup” but it also takes 2 minutes to turn it off, close the flightcase and be ready to move.
The EC4 has multiple ‘pages’ and the name of each knob shows on screen (so no more paper overlays) and can show current value (when you start to move it I think - been a while since I used mine).
Really is worth the investment. Only way it could be improved IMO would be to have a value status ring around each knob like the Livid Instruments Code / MidiFighter Twister.
My first machine ever! I will always be sentimental about it, even though I never gelled with the sound, seeing it makes me so nostalgic…
I just bought it. It’s a bit rough around the edges and beat up but the workflow is really easy and fun. And I love that turn of the millennium sound, so it’s a win.
My primary Techno setup for the past few months. However, I am on the verge of changing things up over the next couple weeks:
holy smoke… I would lose focus. I already struggle with that in my setup. Sometimes I need to sit down with just one instrument and a clear goal. If I don’t I just browse presets until one fits. Which they rarely do. How is that for you considering the amount of options you have?
