really nice work! the MD + micro q sound great together, really cohesive digital-yet-warm sound that works nice with the broken beat vibe

I am thinking about the same thing. I have an MPC Live and I want to get rid of it for the Octatrack. I could have both but seems like I may not use them both. While the MPC Live is extremely capable, i find I spend more time sorting through all of its functions and not making any music. The MPC Live may be TOO capable, if that makes any sense? Its just not that fun to use in my opinion, but I am also dreading the learning curve on Octatrack. I have a Digitakt and a Digitone and those boxes seem to have pretty immediate workflow, hopefully the Octatrack will be a little easier to ease in to.

Check out OT Sample Chains. If you use them once you will keep it. I have one track on OT with 64 breakbeat loops for example. another one with 128 loops i recorded with varios hardware. Once you set up everything right the OT is unbeatable for live performance. I have my TR8s/digitakt and my friends modular running thru the OT. Cue out is set in studio mode for providing a send/return for my doctor A FX unit. MPC is def better for studio tho but too deep for live performance.

how is the routing?

OT input A : Modular out ( Befaco Mixer) or Sh 01A
OT input B: Drums thru acidbox3 (DT or TR8s)
OT input C D : FX return from doctor A
OT Cue Out : FX send per Track (Studio Mode)
OT into Xone Mixer or audio Interface

awesome setup! i’m also running DT+DN through Boum and they’re all such a perfect family together. Whats your routing like using that mixer? Are the Boum and Zoom both on aux sends? Or is Boum on master?

Thank you! I’m using the zoom for the digitone and the oto boum on the aux sends, i didn’t try yet to put the oto boum on the master, maybe better ? And to keep the zoom on aux sends?

Well, guess you have a lot of options given that the DT and DN both can route external inputs through their effects as well:)

I have Boum on master outs and my H9 (Basically like a Zoom, just more expensive) after my Digitone, and i have my aux outs running into my digitone. That way I can cue sends through the Digitones’ fx and then through the H9. I would put the Boum on an aux send, but I don’t have another aux send available, so I use it at 50% dry/wet. I suppose its just about what you’re going for stylistically and what’s possible with your setup!

If i were you, I would try experimenting:)

Yes, you can trust me I will

I like keeping this thread alive!

Wanted to record another jam audio + video, argh but somehow my camera messed up and produced some corrupted file.

Oh well, here’s just the audio recording of 4-ish tracks.

All of these tracks – or at least their main ideas – were part of a liveset I had arranged on some previous setup, but I really enjoy rearranging it all again via my 2xDT + Eurorack setup.

I recorded a little jam with my setup. Played two tracks I´m currently working on, basically to practise, but I thought it would be nice to make a video.

Tell me what you think!

Nice one!

I don’t have a video, but a jam I recorded last week and shared in another thread. I wasn’t another techno thread.

My setup has some in common with you: Doctor A, H9… I use a DT as the main sequencer, which sequences a Nord Drum 3P, a Sub37 which goes in a Moogerfooger Ring Modulator then Modfactor then the Doctor A.

I also use A DN and an occasional stereo sample which for now is played by a computer but that I hope to soon replace by a SP404 for this role and the loop recording, for transitions, that the computer also does.

All this goes into a Xone 96 (was a loan 92 for this jam), I use a Space and H9 on sends.

I just bought a MAM MB33 with a Rat 2 for acid, I’ll give it the H9 exclusively I think the space as send is enough for my needs. I also got a Minilogue XD this weekend, still have to access what it can bring for my jam.

I love the DJ mixer aspect, helps me great with cuts, get-downs and whatnot

Cheers!
