What's your TECHNO setup

Any source can be sampled to OT for studio production work
Each source has an OT audio/sample track for live work, plus T7 transitions, T8 master
There is even a spare mixer channel

Weird question maybe, but with this type of aged/vintage (pick your term if choice;) gear, aren’t you afraid with borrowing it and it breaking down?

Posted this in another thread, just finished putting some new stuff in the rack, all done now just need to setup the modules and drum machines and I’m done for Techno Jamming…

I just bought the Furmans and the iConnectivity MIO XL although I have no idea how to set this one up with my synths… My main sequencer is the AKAI MPCX and that already had plenty midi connectivity so trying to figure out how I’ll integrate this… rubbing head lol

No. I treat their gear as if it were my own.
And often if it has a known issue before I borrow I’ll try to fix it myself. Going to fix the mod wheel on the Nord Wave.
Getting your gear back in better condition than you loaned it out just invites more loaners!

Are you being ironic when you say ‘small’ techno setup?

Yes it’s a small setup I count the rack gear as addons FX etc

That sounds good. Did you learn to be handy throughout the years because of maintaining gear, or are/were you technical already?

(In other words: is fixing gear simple enough to learn on the job?)

Just kinda figured it out, but it always depends on what the issue is. I can’t fix everything. Just the simple stuff.
Modwheel is simple mechanical 10k pot with a few wires soldered on.

Cool, thanks, nice to know. Two years ago, I wouldn’t have thought I’d be opening up and cleaning/lubricating mixers, so this might be feasible down the road too:)

Nice setup! Is that the Magma Carry Lite DJ Case?

Enjoying your video…Good stuff!

I love the dual DigiTech Studio Quad devices. I do not see them in many Techno setups, which I find surprising.

I have one setup in my rack at this time. The flexible routing options has been very helpful to get the most out of it. Sometimes, I use it as 4 individual insert effects, or combine different channels to create something more specific and complex.

Yes I use them as individual insert FX I am currently planning on feeding feeding the Drum Brute outs direct in to both Studio Quads and use the Lexicons and RV500 for synths.

It is too much man

For techno you need 2 machines max 3
You only have 2 hands

Yes 2 hands for controlling the MPC x and the faderfoxes which control everything :+1:

PS

Not all machines are used at one time but can use as many as I need with 2 hands and midi controllers :grinning:

Thanks. Yes that is a magma case. It’s the L.

Finally recorded something with those two, loaded the OT with stems from my modular and jammed with 909 sounds on my Model:Samples.
Here’s a little test run to figure out if I can do something fun with such a setup. Would love your feedback!

There’s room for improvement, I’m thinking of integrating the Launch Control XL to have a proper “mixer” to play with, maybe rearrange my effects which I use in a very basic way for the moment, perhaps dedicate a track for looping too, rehearse some trick with the Model:Samples because live programmation is like playing an instrument, you have to train! And also record many more stems.

Some great setups here Iv’e been scaling down selling stuff to stay minimal… Right I’m looking for a desktop synth with 3 OSCS there’s a lot of nice little synths about but why oh why oh why only 2 OSCS on most I’m seeing. Any recommendations ? Please don’t say Waldorf Blofeld haha
