What shall you do with it? Looks impressive for worship synthing.

Edit: Vermona still have manuals and schematics for it.

Thx! How awesome they still have manuals and schematics!
What to do with it…well, it’s huge, but I hope I can put it in a corner on a keyboard stand and have some fun with it!

I’ve briefly hooked power up, no smoke or smell. Audio is din socket, so I’ll need to solder an adapter first. The bass pedals and volume pedal need a thorough cleaning job, the organ seems to be in very good condition, though.

It looks great with the knob caps on there.

Technically an earlier purchase, but it’s finally complete and usable. Goal is to determine whether modular is for me or not… (and to acquire some soldering skills, which has been achieved for sure)

preamp tubes for my Bogner Uberschall amp and a tube amp testing tool for maintenance and checking bad valves on my many tube amps

Not cheap but all of the decent amp tube testers cost money and figure if I save money only replacing bad tubes, the tool will easily pay for itself. Instead of replacing all tubes and spending $$ throw away good valves, can replace just the occasional bad tube.

That little valve tester is still pricey! If you’re having to replace tubes outside of the context of preference and experimentation then it could be an issue with the amp, tubes should last for a long time even after quite a bit of use.

It will be a nice tool to have around for peace of mind, but I’ve literally had tubes last for 30+ years.

How was the experience of building it? I’ve soldered cables, speakers, and pickups but nothing more complicated successfully.

my weekend is sorted

not preamp tubes based on my experience they last a few years. I have many tube amps so the tool will pay for itself over decades in not having to replace good tubes. Preamp tubes do not last as long as power tubes.

Totally agree that preamp tubes don’t have the same life of a power amp tube, but if you play your guitar for 7 hours a day every day, 7 days a week and using only 1 amp, then at the end of 4 years you’ll be approaching the approximate 10,000 hr lifespan of a preamp tube in that amp.

There’s always a chance some won’t last as long and that some will outlast the rated hours, but all I’m saying is that tubes last a relatively long time even when pressed to the limits daily so unless you’re hearing microphonics, buzzing, vibrations or you’ve noticed a progressive increase in the noise floor, don’t get too trigger happy about replacing tubes.

my other amps have less issue with preamp burning out but the Bogner Uberschall eats them faster.

Found both of these right on top of each other at the local used book store. For Science!

That looks wicked. Where’d you pick it up at?

from the Befaco site - wow, looks like they’re sold out of both assembled and DIY kits already

Yeah. Sold out just about everywhere. Got on the Thonk list to be notified of restocks. They look to have the best global price.

Not too bad. A few tricky bits, but some modules were super simple, so you can start with those and work up.

It did take quite a bit of time though, but got faster as I went.

The kit’s maker (Clacktronics) is also active on a discord where he offers tips and support. He’s also adding more detailed build guides online, and improving things based on feedback so far.

An impossible puzzle?

Not sure why, though the opsix was never really on my radar until I saw the modules released. It is absolutely incredible, endless possibilities, great interface, effects, presets - everything. Intentions are to get better at FM and sample into Digitakt.

Bought two copies of Alex Kassian‘s e2e4 rework. Intention: rinse one, sell the other on Discogs once the price has gone up.
