purchase - gibson blues king acoustic
intention - play the blues like a king
āCan we get Serge?ā
āWe have Serge at home.ā
At home:
The purchase here is a second Falistri, and Iāve swapped in non-Frap-Tools support modules that seemed more Serge-like to me. This will be my Austere Analog case, as opposed to the other double, Decadent Digital.
Have these for my Kali monitors. Work great.
That is a lovely system!
My main axe since about 1998 (a left-handed model, light finish). Beautiful guitar, may it bring you as many good memories as Iāve had with mine!)
Upgraded my KRKs after stumbling across an Amazon warehouse deal on some 8040Bs. I almost cried when I listened to Random Access Memories. I do have a sub, but can anyone tell me if itās really necessary in their experience? I feel bad having the signal running through a monoprice powered sub before hitting the gennies. Room isnāt treated much but very long so first reflection and room modes in general havenāt been an issue.
Very nice ![]()
Love the desk and whole setup aswell.
Iāve been rocking 8030s for years no sub and soon got use to how far to push the bass. There is so much clarity just above we know whats going on in the problem areas. Occasionally a bit lively low end when played elsewhere.
I personally wouldnāt feed them from a sub. Very nice upgrade:)
Edit forgot to mention when i changed position from speaker stands to a desk top similar to yours i noticed the higher bass response.
Nice math grenade.
Iāve had the 8030C for about 2 weeks and I definitely donāt need a sub. I think youāre just fine without one, the 8040s are even more powerful. Enjoy and give your ears some time to adjust. ![]()
Awesome desk! Generally yes, you absolutely need a sub for small speakers. Itās easy to think you donāt need a sub before you get one but you should know better than us since your sub is there already. Does it sound like itās a problem? Have you tried room correction software?
I was previously using 4ā krks that were a bit thin and muddy. The sub allowed them to focus on mids and highs. I was asking if that was unnecessary with 8040s that have 6.5ā drivers and 95w AB amps. The sub isnāt great but does have a nice warm and round fill between 20-80hz. The 8040s can go as low 45hz apparently.
lovely thanks - has yours opened up over time?
Iād take the specs with a grain of salt and go by ear. You can test it out with a mic and a sine wave generator in a DAW, test mics are cheap. If you automate a sweep you can get a bit of visualization of volume levels at different frequencies if you want to hunt them. A few bucks extra gets you room correction software and they sometimes come bundled with audio interfaces.
Did a bit of arcade PCB shopping in Akihabara today. Picked up a Joyful Road PCB for am excellent price ![]()
It looks like itās barely ever been used! Flawless, and itās from 1983. Perfectly packaged at the shop, and the nice fellow in the arcade section connected it, and played a round to make sure everything was perfect.
Found this hand-printed poster at the recent Art Book Fair!
Plans: Getting it framed, then trying to find wallspace for it⦠somewhereā¦
Edit: Print by Laila Islam.
that chip on top left thats missing a label and has the glass window exposed, you should probably put a tape onit. they get erased by light thats how they reprogram them.
Measles synth ![]()
Beautiful PCB. JAMMA connector time? ![]()
Yeah, generally UV, but I have a few boards that I need to cover the EPROMs on.
I also have a programmer and eraser in case I need to fix anything. (And a collection of more or less every ROM file in existence. ![]()
Thank you for mentioning it though! Definitely worth pointing out!
