What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 3)

Spotykach arrived with the Oaka Instrument contact mic.

I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but tomorrow it is on.

Intention are to mangle audio on the fly and have more excuses to record random things, including with recently added this week, ferrous (pictured in B&W). .

Surely this will be the reverb pedal that makes me a better musician…

Intentions? Carnegie hall.

Just ordered the “Arturia Keystep Pro Chroma” from Juno UK coming tomorrow

Thought I’d use this as a separate setup with the RD-9, TD-3 MO, Grind and Peak for a while. Looking forward to delivery tomorrow

That’s deep!

Pantheon Pranayama. Pretty compact for a longboard and really low standing platform. My intention is to have a more comfy and fun ride to and from the kindergarten with my daughter, and to even possibly get some exercise skating longer distances.

That’s lovely! Never been a longboard guy, but something that compact is very intriguing/tempting!

It’s an incredibly comfortable ride! Big soft wheels and slightly flexy deck absorb road vibrations and roll fine over crusty road, and they keep momentum very well so you don’t have to push as often. The standing platform is really low, so you don’t have to do pistol squats to push. It’s comparatively easy to balance on too, so I’ve been practicing riding switch so I can alternate pushing with both feet.

It doesn’t have a kicktail so it’s not as manoeuvrable as a normal skateboard but someone made a 3D model of a tiny kick/stand thing, which I 3D printed and put on my board. It’s easier to kick up now, and it’s convenient for when I need both hands for anything

Did you managed to use the mic?
I understood you need phantom power for it, am I correct?

Phantom power needed. I did use it to make sure it works, but I’ll have a real use of it soon after getting nano-tape for sticking it onto things.

I’m using it with a Tascam Portacapture X8 to supply the phantom power.

Oh wow! I think you just sold me on this haha. I really dig the low profile of it, and the kick/stand is super rad!

Might have to inform my wife to add one of these to my birthday gift ideas list

It’s expensive for a board, but it’s cheap compared to synths

GAS for a longboard intensifies.

Researching and I don’t fully understand when you would choose a drop down/drop through/other style over a cruiser.
My use case would be riding paved nature trails for fun. Mostly flat. Some small hills but not bombing hills. lol

My board GAS disappeared a couple years ago when I was riding with my niece, hit a pinecone when I wasn’t paying attention, and got a nice scaphoid fracture as a result. Surgery, a screw that still hurts from time to time, and almost a year without my right hand for guitar, synths, and m/kb gaming was enough to hang up that one… I’m definitely not young anymore lmao

Oh man, that sounds terrible!
After the year are you able to do those things again?

Yeah, not young either and have similar concerns.
Those are also my favorite hobbies as well…so I guess cruising isn’t as important to me. lol

I found one for 7 euros locally. Going to snatch it up and roll some  Plenty available second hand. No more ollies for this old bastard (and yes I will wear a helmet, maybe even wrist protection).

My both shoulders are basically already fucked from bicycle injuries and I have dropped even snowboarding due, but if it costs 7 euros then I’m getting back on the deck. Can’t get any worse?! Love extreme sports but they do not love me.

Yeah, I’m pretty much back to normal even though from time to time it will just randomly hurt, I’m just sticking to bikes for the foreseeable future haha

Thanks for confirming.
It’s bummer as my audio interface is not in the same room. I didn’t want to add another piece to the set up. Maybe a portable batteries power phantom supplie would work …

100% understand. I’m at the point that when I look at equipment, I start ruling it out if it requires too many more things to make it all work.

If interested, the Zoom H3 has a nice small footprint without sacrificing quality (as far as I understand it).

I agree. Then you end up doing cable management …

I have the zoom u-24 as an alternative and I realized that it has the 48V phantom supply! Not ideal but I could try the mic.

This is the second time I’ve owned a Push 2, the first time I bought one brand new and had a very strong negative reaction to it and sent it back almost immediately. I wanted to be able to not touch the computer at all, and that turned out to be an unrealistic expectation.

I since owned a dirt cheap used Push 1 and enjoyed it but it became faulty quite quickly and couldn’t be fixed so I got a refund. I haven’t had a hardware controller for some time and I was getting frustrated so I jumped on this when I saw it for a fair price in great condition.

This time round, I’m trying to accept that the computer/mouse is MUCH better for some jobs and that I should use the controller for what it’s good at like clip launching, mixer control, muting/unmuting tracks and FX etc.

It’s a fools errand to try to do complex sequencing or programming complex VST synths with this thing. I can do sound design much faster with a mouse and even lay down beats and sequences quicker for the most part, but then I can enjoy the jamming part more with the hardware.

There’s no shame in hybrid!
