She’s def a keeper! Congrats!
Using it after my Digitone/Rytm combo and to enhance my ambient guitar pedal board. Delivers in spades and I’ve only scratched the surface.
You already know my answer.
Oh wait you said spare time. Sorry, can’t help you there.
Hehehe!!!
I fulfill my own stereotype. Makes it easy for people to categorize me for their own peace of mind
Little do they know though….
I know that look. You don’t read the manuals.

Not sure if this is what you meant but I had no idea this existed!
Yes, those are the ones! Complete overkill, and I totally do not have the money for it after selling off and reacquiring the new setup. They’re on the “if I build a big 4U modular and someone buys it” some day list.
I would put one of the stereo summing mixers in line with them and just use it as a nice sounding stereo mix bus. I could make use of the ADAT interfaces, but then I’d need even more gear, so probably best to set it up in my somewhat laughable analog way.
In the meantime, I’ll get along just fine as I don’t really record anything currently worth that kind of effort or money.
The plan is to start helping the kids with some of their recording though, and they’re more serious than I am. So I want that side of things to be as good as it can be.
In the meantime I got one of the new Clarett+Pre interfaces, that Rupert transformer DI, and deciding on some compression and EQ devices right now. That’ll work nicely for until I complete the build backlog and can build a big modular for someone.
Also, that apartment that I just built for my daughter in the old garage, won’t be occupied forever. My son and I were thinking of converting it to a full-fledged recording studio once my daughter doesn’t need it anymore. He knows tons of local people that could use a more accessible way to get their material recorded, and I’d love to provide that. A lot of really talented kids that don’t have that kind of access.
It’s basically like having one channel strip from a full console. They’re not really meant for us mortals, but then I never played by those rules. I find them intriguing, so if I can put the funds together, I’m going to try it out. For science.
Edit: I had a bit of a shift in perspective with my recent rearrangement. Less gear, but better gear, and put more time and effort into recording and processing gear than into instruments that I don’t have enough time to play. That way, as I mentioned above, I can help other people with the recording side of things that could use a bit of assitance, or put a record together that wouldn’t otherwise be able to do it the same way. My son has an excellent ear, and makes incredible music, and also helps a lot of people record their music. But they do it all on 3" monitors with Ableton in the basement. And it still sounds pretty amazing. But I was hoping that I could give them access to some tools, and a bit of knowledge and elevate them a bit if they’re willing.
I suppose it’s like a lawyer doing a bit of pro-bono work.
I’ve had the privilege of playing with fancy and fun gear for a good chunk of my life. If I can pass a bit of that on, it would make me happy.
just out of curiosity without digging any deeper into something I’ll probably never have, does the eq works on ADAT inputs too? or only for the mic/line?
and if not, is this one not a better choice? at least it can take stereo

Got the Arturia FX Collection 5 for €99!
Have hold off buying plugins until now. Don’t really create in the box, only use Ableton for very basic arranging and basic final mixing and DIY mastering of tracks I make otherwise out of the box. But I’ve been curious about fx that can mangle whole stereo recordings or drum bus heating/overdriving kind of stuff.
Lot of stuff to try out in this bundle - and stuff that’s just a bit more than the standard Ableton stuff (although I’m sure their stuff sounds great).
So mostly will focus on stuff like their Culture Vulture, Dist Coldfire, etc. And the rest of chorus, reverbs, etc etc are nice freebies.
Also will be fun to see if I can get a bit more adept at tweaking compressors and limiters to taste - now I have the Ableton comps/limiters and a bunch of Arturia’s clones of famous ones.
I didn’t research that side of it because I don’t have any gear for that currently. My guess is that it’s for the analog side, and the ADAT is straight through. Otherwise it would need further AD/DA stages, which would probably make them even more expensive.
I look at it this way though, my cousin runs a fancy Lynx card just for stereo use on his PC.
It costs nearly as much as one of these for two channels. So if I actually got some good use out of two of these recording material, then it would eventually be worth it. I’m at the stage where I find experiementation and learning to be part of the fun again. It’s been a long time since I’ve needed to do much of that beyond learning a new synth or something.

Honestly, I still love Ozone. When used sparingly it can really make things pop.
I have a secret preamp obsession! These look amazing but out of my budget! I’m looking forward to hear the Behringer 1273 (I’m a horrible person)! Stereo preamp with EQ for under $700.
My dirty pleasure: use the Plate Reverb at 44.1K on my TASCAM with internal preamps into clipping (peak light flashing at epileptic triggering rate, not steady flashing, just at skilled Morse operator rate)
I call it the “J Leon Instant Napster Mastering Chain”
I’m in the early stages of developing a taste for them. I wouldn’t be opposed to adding some of those after getting a couple of real ones. There’s only so much a regular person can spend on the high end before cheating a little bit.
Hard to argue cloning wrapped wire.
Not to mention my mic locker is crusty and zero room treatment so hard to justify the real deal but if I could, I would!
