Will do! And you’re in luck because the last monitors I had were HS8s.
I used the aiaiai headphones for a while and enjoyed them. I thought the noise/hiss issue that people complained about was overblown and easily avoided with good gain staging. I ended up selling them because the space I had was so small I didn’t need wireless. Now I wish I didn’t sell them.
Great info! Much appreciated. I was on the fence about the cans as it is slim picken for no (ultra low) latency cans from an audio production context.
I’ve literally been using gaming headbuds on the go (Soundcore) because they’re the only earbuds I’ve found that send audio over UHF(?) dongle vs Bluetooth. It’s beyond me more companies haven’t tackled this.
I saw aiaia have a flag ship pair but read about the hiss you mentioned and steered clear. I’ll be grabbing those and the Unit 4’s pending your review of latency and sound quality.
Stvc
For my birthday . That’s the fck it I’m buying synth
Always happens this , when I have in mind a synth that I want buy and last minute I change my mind. And take something completely different.
I wanted the DN instead I took this. I don’t know why.
Long ago, I had an 828 mk2, and it was good. I had to leave it behind in Seattle, where I hope it continues to be put to good use.
I was looking for another mk2 to use as a digital mixer, since my used 1202vlz4 always has scratchy pots. Instead, this mk3 was offered and we were able to agree upon a trade.
Plans:
Mix digitally without the computer
Mix digitally with the computer
Play with DSP FX in the mixer. At the very least, compression will be nice to have when playing with my many weird analog devices.
Design and laser cut a tower stand so that the 828 is elevated about 5-6" above the desk for ease of use.
I’m rarely a big spender in one go on synths but my last purchase was an STVC and a Digitone (sale prices were too good to stagger the purchases).
You will have a lot of fun with the STVCs mod matrix. Otherwise I thought a vocoder would make me less embarrassed about singing but it turns out the opposite.
Nice!! I think I need one of those to accompany my Source Nemesis delay. I’ve been looking for a good reverb lately. I ALMOST loved my Night Sky, but it was just slightly too much shimmer oriented, where I wanted that as a possibility, but not the main focus. I just want a good sounding reverb, with some extras to play with. I didn’t know the Mercury X existed.
I think you can’t be disappointed with this one (Mercury X). The Meris LVX (its Delay siblings) sounds fantastic. Have you considered the Ventris Dual Reverb?
I don’t want to over react because I’ve only spent about an hour with it, but this shit is incredible. That AI patch creater they’ve added is actually really impressive.
@simonbradford You in the UK? There’s a guy on eBay who makes his own that will fit the DT/DN/ST (not AH).
Really good quality imo offering just as much protection as a deck saver for half the price. They fit a little tighter, always found deck savers to be a bit loose. Quite like the black Vader/stealth look as well.
Also makes them for the TD3. I got a smiley version off him that he might have some left of
Thanks, it looks clean…
But I am not in the UK and I have already had serious disappointments with imports since Brexit, I avoid buying from the other side of the channel now, the delusional protexionism has won.
Akai Z8 sampler. Shares an engine with the MPC4000, reads FAT32 drives, got some interesting filters and a pretty cool removable control panel (though sanity demands using Ak.sys). What will Ak.sys run on? Well, old samplers demand old computers…
In all seriousness though, I do like this and have put an order in for one, so will have to put up my black DT once it arrives as I have no desk space for two of them.
