What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 2)

I think that NL3 has one of the best interfaces ever - at least of the synths I’ve owned. I don’t have it any more sometimes i wish…

For sure, it’s those LED rings + endless encoders that won me over. I love being able to switch parts and see the correct control states.

Over a year ago, I apparently ordered a TC Electronic Sub ‘N’ Up octaver pedal, and it is finally being shipped.

I already have several other similar pedals, and cannot recall why I specifically ordered it. The MXR Poly Blue Octave is on my main guitar pedalboard, and will not be supplanted by the Sub ‘N’ Up. Nevertheless, I will find a use for it.

I may have gotten a little bit carried away as I’ve just bought the entire U-He software bundle that was on sale at Native Instruments 15 mins before the sale ended. I know that sounds like a rash decision but (bear with me) I didn’t do it on a whim as I’ve been extensively demoing all of these synths and FX over the last week or so and here’s what’ve I’ve concluded…

They’re all really bloody good. I was sat with a spreadsheet (yes really) working out combos of different stuff to compare the price with the bundle and see “what if I drop this plugin or that plugin” to save a bit of money. I ultimately concluded that I didn’t want to lose any of them. Diva is like a modular analogue without the wires, Repro sounds amazing and is easy to program, Hive is a brilliant toolbox for all kinds of digital sounds, wavetable, massive pads and ambient sounds and is also surprisingly good at making drums, drum loops and other percussive and rhythmic stuff.

I never really understood compression to be honest but I ran Presswerk across some “full” house/techno loops from a sample pack (with drums, bass, synths etc all in one mixdown) and I could really tell the difference which I often haven’t been able to with other compressors. It can absolutely smash it or add subtle saturation etc.

The FX are lovely as well, Colour Copy is a brilliant delay.

Check out Mutable Instruments Ripples (2020) if you can find it. Love that one! There are many clones out there as well.

I would but I only want black modules in my setup haha I’m OCD I’m sure there are amazing modules out there but I gotta stay with black…

last purchases of 2022 were mixer recorders like TX6 and Zoom Livetrak L-12 to make workflow faster and more productive and my preorders of Virus TI2 and OB X8 along with stands and cover protectors. Satisfied that I can make the music needed and no gear in 2023!

You’ve got arguably the greatest synth pairing out there. I’d say you’re pretty set for a while. At least a decade or two…

Just bougth this in discount

My intention is to record vinyls samples in 32bit floating from my parent house and carry them to my home to feed my OT and DT.
I want this to be my new portable samples bank.
Also, I’m curious to record my beats in 32 bits float for better mastering on the computer.

I hope you also abuse its ridiculous recording range. Amplifying the barely audible, for example. It does seem very well suited to unusual field recordings.
