…since i got all needed hardware settled since ages, when it comes to live equipment of all kinds, i have the feeling, me purchasing the syntakt recently could mark the final end of all my hardware years…
studiowise i’m soooo much back in the box lately and pretty much run all licenses for the hottest software tools to think of…
i even got this damned uberfancy god particle plugin since a few days…
and crossgraded to sonibles new smart compressor 2…
while bitwig remains the best daw host i’ve ever touched, knowing for sure, i’ll never ever gonna look back to any other daw i once had in heavy use in any old days i can remember…
so i’m out here, i’m afraid…next investment will be this famous gulfoss plugin…that dynamic eq running thousands of realtime frequency bands miracle ducking thing…
and then, that’s it…my mixes got it all lately…the perfect punch, the perfect wideness and sonic balance and even the perfect loudness…if there’s such a thing like perfection…
only exeption…once sweden announces the real next new ot…some next level realtime action sampler device that has it’s very own take on all kinds of granular, but cased in some digi like footprint…
For what it’s worth, this is probably the chorus. It’s not a part of the ZEN-Core patch, and so not turned on by default on the 101. Try switching it off on the JV and the patches should sound nearly identical (excepting converter and bitrate stuff).
On the 101, chorus is a part of the delay settings, which are stored with the project, not the patch. You can edit them with SHIFT + MFX to get very close to the JV sound.
At the same time, I’d hardly call this a “comfortable” way to get the same sound So your point is completely valid.
Good point! But I have made a lot of music layering tracks form the JVs deactivating the chorus completely, and have tested the MCs thoroughly, and there is still a big difference to me in the way both do the internal mixing, which is of course algorythmical. I find the MCs muddy and transient-dead in comparison to the JVs in a similar multi-track usage.
Got a great local deal on a grey AR MK2. I’ve wanted one for ages, and the stars finally aligned. I was going to buy a used Digitakt, but this fell into my lap. I’m planning to use it like a Digitakt on steroids, with the kits and performance mode. Will probably focus on synth/keys one shots and granular looping, but also excited about the dual VCO engine. I will likely keep using the OT for drums, but once I get to know it better, I’m sure I’ll use the Rytm to feed the machine
DBA Rooms. A gorgeous stereo reverb. I have a feeling I’ll primarily be using the wobbly mode. Instant nostalgia. Gong gives some nasty, awesome resonance. It’s dark, and it does clip easily, but my first impression is good. Having stereo I/o and wet/dry controls can outweigh a lot of potential issues. Time will tell if the dark character gets old or not, I know that’s one of the main complaints people have.
…yeah, the only downside with plugins…all this sales…
u invest in a license 200 bux and 4 weeks later, out of the blue, u can suddenly shoot that same license for 50 bux…hmmmmpf…
but fuk it, this gulfoss thing seems like that last plugin that rounds up all my folders…
and NO, this is not at all like that common hw gas addiction…in fact it’s even worse, since the average next must have software tool is most of the times “only” 100 bux away…damn…
Not the most exciting purchase, but I bought this Akai MPK Mini mk3 as a replacement for my old mk2 with a few broken keys. I’ve been eyeing the SP-404 mk2 ever since it was released, and have previously been interested in the MPC One (or Live). My intention is to dive into finger drumming and resampling with MPC Beats (Or just FL Studio if it turns out to be easier for me). If I like it enough, I’ll consider selling off a precious, precious Elektron box to fund an SP-404 mk2 (or preferably scrounge up enough cash without resorting to that). If not, then I have keys to play my Elektrons and knobs to control my “”“mastering”"" template in FL Studio
I just ordered a faderfox ec4 to use with my Digitone and Syntakt. Mostly planning on using it to set up some macros on the mod wheel and cc4 and stuff for more dynamic stuff and to get around the Digi boxes not having kits.
Hey, nice find!
Hope it’s in good condition.
I feel like this belongs in Your Modulars.
I remember being completely captivated as a kid by these kind of electronic kits.
Went to the store several times a week just to have a look at them, collected catalogs etc.
Never actually got one.
I hadn’t thought of it, but no wonder I ended up with a modular system a few decades later.
To be honest I wasn’t expecting to get a Monomachine as it is way out of my budget. But I’ve traded my Ornament-8, a Mackie mixer and a patchbay for this one, so I didn’t even pay anything. It is MKI anyway.
Take it your not talking about the proper old school ones? Imagine those classic boxes are always noisy.
Mines is fine tbh. It doesn’t handle gain going through it too well and can get noisy then, or when the flange rate is high but I use it in the filter matrix mode with the rate set and cleanish signal and don’t really notice any issue. Obviously now my power to it is properly isolated and not chained it’s even quieter/fuller.
I sent my MC-101 back and exchanged it for the big brother. Let’s see if I can enjoy designing my own sounds or if (as I suspect) I’ll rely on samples and using the looper tracks with internal resampling. I’m hoping it’ll be a sort of Ableton in a box with clips and scenes etc.
