What's your latest purchase & what are your intentions with it? [pics ftw] (Part 2)

I did not plan to purchase another synth this year, but could not pass up a Moog Grandmother Dark on sale:

It will more than likely be added to my present Moog Semi-Modular Studio 3 (DFAM, Mother-32, Subharmonicon) setup that also includes a second Mother-32.

encountered & bought Electribe EA-1 Mk2 for less than $120.
no particular intention, just wanted it for quite a long time.

Report is low fidelity when pedal is engaged. No way to get around it.
Pedal will be returned.

But in other, on topic news, my (2nd go with a) TR6S arrived. Had a little Syntakt TR6S jam last night and it’s just what I needed.

Added a TR-6S to my DN to have dedicated percussion / samples machine and free the precious DN channels to do their thing…
From the first couple of hours with the tr-6s it’s just perfect for me, great size, great sound, running through the DN input I can use the DN reverb / delay / chorus which is fun  … and faders! :open_mouth:

A friend sent this to me because he knows I might need it (more in that in a day or two):

Already have one of those… ( I think it’s more about the format)

Bought this preset pack and the other Berlin School one for Wavestate.

My buddy wanted to do a synth jam. He jammed on the Moog Matriarch and Subhharmonicon and I jammed on the Wavestate.

Have you made the wooden case by yourself? Looks solid! Still considering if I may spend the time to make one for mine ^^

Oh no, definitely not. I am no woodworker. Both the Minimoog and Prophet-5 were in rough condition when I got them, so I sent them to Wes Taggart (Analogics) who rehoused them both in curly maple. I would imagine that it’s quite possible to DIY similar results if you have the woodworking skills, though.

Enjoy!!

I absolutely LOVE my Grandmother. It has its limitations, but it’s just a beautiful sounding and playing instrument. It’s just truly enjoyable to play. Mine is right above my Hydra Deluxe, and I’ve been dual-manualing. It makes me play more and program less.

I just rebought the TR-8S. It just really suits my playing style, and is so quick to edit on the fly.

I love Elektrons, but I think I lean more toward the Roland for drum tracks. Elektrons for creating one instrument tracks.

Yea I love TR6S with the Syntakt, just about to sit down to a session with it shortly.

Those analog kicks from Syntakt were just itching for classic Roland percussion on top of them. When I had a Rytm most of my mid to high range percussion was Roland x0x samples. And the little faders are a nice tactile counterpoint to the Elektron encoder-based UI.

Also, having the Roland as a backbone while you do some CTRL-ALL tricks on an Elektron is so effective, as you can keep things a bit more tame, but get pretty imaginative breakdown tricks going with little effort.

Nice!! I had a Drumtraks in the 90s. It came with a ton of ROMs too. I used it quite a bit, but then got wooed away by a Kawai XD-5.

Wes Taggart… the synth tech who moved away from my area right before I needed a bunch of synths serviced :man_facepalming:

chatted with him a few times but never ended up taking anything to him before he moved. now the nearest tech I have to ship to :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Ah, that’s a bummer. He did good work on those synths. I shipped them out to him. I now live a couple of hours away from Mike Metz/Thesis Audio. He’s terrific, asks a reasonable rate and is quite speedy. Great guy to chat with as well.

yeah I scored a Drumtraks and a TOM recently. really stoked on both of ‘em. even if having both is overkill :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

the TOM has reverse and more sounds available at once. plus it looks so gloriously 80’s… think I prefer that one. and I’m still after @Scot_Solida’s Oberheim DX :upside_down_face:

A DIGITAKT!!! To sequence my beloved Roland JV1010 with all 8 MIDI channels. The 4 channels on the DN werent enough. And to show some love to the displaced 'Tone I bought him new black buttons for the sequencer and track mutes. Now they match!! I love spoiling my Elektrons

I’m joining the Behringer 2600 club; have a Grey Meanie inbound.

I figured that if the 2600 was good enough for everyone for the last half decade, it should be good enough for me:)

It’s loosely related to me slowly reflecting on the cost/benefit of my 6U modular. Lately I had been enjoying my modular as sound design exploration platform. But I t’s just such an expensive tool for that - so I’m giving it a go on the 2600.

I’ll probably repurpose my modular more performance related.
