I’m in that boat.
I’ve since sold all my mpcs (time for a workflow change), but 100% sequencing only.
An external sampler was far more powerful and faster to use.
I picked up the mono desktop monitor stands. Dope as. But first worldishly expensive.
Brings everything up to ear level. They do bounce a bit which is funny, I suspect it’s more from my bouncey table (lol dude why do u have a bouncey table)
Picked up a pedaltrain nano+ also - great for shifting my Strymon setup in one piece, I’m looking to get an Ojai to simplify the power setup - which will hide right under the the Nano+. A long TB3 cable now gets round to the MBP which can now tuck nicely under my left monitor.
Apart from that a few Hosa 1/4” cables lately. Have a Moog Studio System in the mail, looking forward to that adding to this mix.
Apart from that I’d love a Mood, maybe a blooper. Maybe even an OT
Still trying to find equilibrium in this new place I have. Getting there …
You have the ocean. You win, no matter what
thanks loopdude
Not to over do it but I also got a new zoom lens (yes I have blown all my savings on gear)
But the results are instantly creamy. lovely tones and dof. just adds something that shooting with a phone doesn’t do (as above)
intention is obvious, zooming in better on stuff
Great size those. Might get one as a riser - my fx currently hide at the back of the desk behind a synth!
It is literally the perfect size for these 3 pedals. And nice for some additionals in front on the lower level when they arrive some day
Akai DPS16, Akai DPS12 (both really cheap), because I “needed” something to record more than 2 tracks at once and I was not satisfied with the EQ on the Korg D888. That said, I could have used the Ibanez RM80 as EQ and the Korg as recorder… Well, I guess I just like new stuff. And I must say, I like the sound of the DPS16. The Akais have real punch-in, punch-out, rehearsal, mixer scenes and better FX, too - and 2 mono or one stereo AUX for including my FX pedals
What will I do with it? I guess the same as with every device: test it, understand it, save an excerpt or memory imprint in my head and put it into storage until I really use it, mostly years later.
Now you NEED to get microtonic
I also got desktop monitor stands but some generic ones from Thomann, so less aesthetic. I waited a few years until my kid was older to avoid accidents, still not old enough to get floor monitor stands instead.
Here’s how the unpatched setup looks now:
Already sold🙁
God, I wish my rig was that clean and organized. My desk is in a perpetual state of chaos, wires everywhere and piles of pedals and assorted gear in the corners.
Well, when the modular is patched and I use the keystep as a (huge) MIDI to CV converter it looks less tidy
My window looks out onto a busy street with random junkies walking by. I think you’ll get there.
Also your pedals aren’t plugged in. How am I supposed to admire/judge your wire management?
@mleaf must have some good imagination.
Got this to add some good stuff to my drums. I currently have it hooked up to the AR and use the MT, HT, CB, and CY pads controlling the 4 modules. What is odd is that midi learn the pad will not play the module when you step sequence, You have to midi learn the “sequence” to get it to play right.
Im not super into fm sounds but every damn time i see a Digitone i want one!
Hope you like it!
I’ve done a lot of research on it and to me, it doesn’t sound like a typical FM synth. I’m just ready to make some new sounds and shake things up a bit. OT, DN, OP-1, and Zoia (with guitar/bass) are going to keep me busy all spring and summer. Hope my family doesn’t mind.
Last thing for a while, probably. This giant keyboard. My intentions are learn to play it. Hopefully one day, if I can, buying a larger keyboard synth won’t seem like such a waste.
It was the cheapest no-frills MIDI keyboard I could find. Probably could have gone with the 61 key and been just fine, but it wasn’t much more and I can fortunately put it in a closet if I get tired of looking at it, or if it mocks me for my weak skills. Feels pretty nice so far, though I’ve never been too into M-Audio and have very limited experience with keys. Should get the job done either way, so long as I commit to practice.
Because of the added Filters. That makes an FM Subtractive synth.
