After 8 years of looong wait… Still don’t know what to do with the OT, my head is full of different possible setup, would like to make some downtempo but even breakcore; I want to sample from field recording and layer a concrete collage; I want to process my modular rack. Probably it’s too much even for a few years😤

which stand is this?

Perfect price, construction and quality too, heavy and stable,
protective foams with adhesive included everything is removable.
Very ā€œPremiumā€. Available as a bundle with a double level.

@Mark_Otto pointed out that the two-stage solution they offer is not compatible
with other Elektron machines in the lower stage.
with a Dn and a DT, it is necessary to remove the side edges,
therefore not the right stand for music in a boat.

Good subject here with lots of solutions.

Have you got any more info on this mod?

Yeah, so I guess people with the newer Lyras are able to get more percussive tones by being able to turn the and/or to the center ā€œoffā€ position on the updated models. Others said they were able to imitate it on the old ones by diming the two Hyper LFO pots and doing a specific combo of the two switches, but it wasn’t really working for me so I figured I’d just try swapping out the switches. I think it’s gonna be an easy swap because you’re just unsoldering and resoldering the same leads, the switch just has that extra position that does nothing.

I asked Soma about it and they confirmed and gave me the part number.

Here’s a muffwiggler thread page that got me going:

https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=163637&start=1325

There’s some videos and if you go backwards from the page I posted there is some earlier info.

Mouser part was: 1MS3T1B1M1QES

I’m still waiting for the switches to show up.

Edit: Also, Soma’s DIY Kit documentation had a bunch of useful info as far as looking at the boards and pics and stuff.

It’s a Varmilo VA88Mac, I don’t think it’s hot swappable but it was the only one with mac uk keycaps I could find

Fantastic, many thanks mate

I got myself a new smoke detector and it’s says MIDI… how dope! Not sure how I’ll use it in a studio/live setup but any suggestions are welcome!

Fred Schneider plays one on ā€œRock Lobsterā€ by the B52s.

All I can think of is this: https://youtu.be/n6BNE62xGqE

Got this Fostex 280 tape multitracker for 30€. It needs a new belt at least (the deck doesn’t work, which I knew before buying) but meanwhile I’m happy to use it as a mixer to overdrive / warm-up / saturate the crap out of my VSTs. Also gonna use it for resampling with the Octatrack.

Even if I never get around to repairing the tape deck, this will be an awesome eq/fx unit!

Awesome find! I’d like to get a 4-track mostly just for the pre-amps, less so for actual recording. If you ever want to sell that, I’d be interested.

looks awesome, but how does it sound

She’s beautiful for sure. I like the 70s look.
She sounds quite vibrant and hollow in a way, the shawbuckers are quite single coil sounding, which I like as I have a Gibson type guitar as well. Plays like butter as well

Cheers, will keep that in mind! Although I have to disappoint you it’s not very likely I’ll let this one go… I’d been eyeing a 4-track for quite some time and was prepared to pay a fair amount, so I was really happy to have this come available locally. The pre-amps are where it’s at for me as well.

Thanks. You’re right. It’s amazing. And in terms of setting it up with overbridge and ableton, was very quick and easy. Midi out per track is great. Sound is amazing. i just need an extra couple of hours a day now.
