Ristorante Paradiso

The closing theme for “WKRP In Cincinnati” (a vastly underrated show).

I am really bad at deciphering lyrics in general, and grew up before they were readily available on the Web. So it was more than thirty years later that I learned that there aren’t really lyrics on this song, just noises that sound like them.

My favourite along these lines is this video (“Benny Lava”). These lyrics are stuck in my head forever.

Muahaha, I knew this thread was going to turn into “throw a bunch of theme songs from 80s and 90s into the sink”.

Anyway, I’ll play

Oh, you youngsters. I think I stopped watching broadcast TV in 1984.

There were a lot of wretched shows in the '70s and a lot of wretched theme songs to go with them. My first thought when I saw the topic title was “Gilligan’s Island”, cringefest all around.

But in terms of positive contributions from those days, I should mention the funky instrumental of “Barney Miller”, and the gospel-themed song that opened “The Jeffersons” (both the song and the show were fairly far removed from mainstream practice). I won’t link them, but they’re worth seeking out, if you haven’t heard them. Edit: also the instrumental that opened “Taxi”.

I’ll take that.

Wow! I was just about to post Urusei Yatsura and didn’t expect to see Maison Ikkoku (probably my all time favourite). :grinning:

Some of the various ending themes are equally as good, and if they sound a bit silly or 80s, that’s exactly why they work!

I was also going to post that to complement The Three Muskahounds / Dogtanian above!

Isn’t that a Shuki Levy song? Pretty legendary.

Oh yeah the UY theme is great!

When I started watching Astro Note I thought I might be imagining the similarities to MI. Then I realized not only Kyouko and Godai but also Akemi, Yotsuya, etc. all have counterparts as well. Then what got me was
