What Synths are capable of instant Program Changes for Elektron Program Change Sequencing?

I’ve heard this about the Radias, Integra, and that (most) Nord’s are fine, same with DSI/Sequential. Of course the only one I have is the Tempest that doesn’t do MIDI PC and has awkward workarounds. I’d love to compile a list.

Peak – it’s rapid at changes, there’s a demo online somewhere I think

Very unlikely the G1 can do instant program change. The G2 takes a second or longer (depending on patch/performance size) to respond to PC as most of the time each patch / performance has a different architecture. Even if exactly the same modules and connections are the same in two patches / performances, the synth reloads those same modules upon PC.

I don’t know about the Leads: as they have a fixed architecture, maybe they respond to PC change instantly.

Your are absolutely right… Someone told above that G1 has a kind of “snapshots” for each patch and it’s possible to switch between them via CC. With Leads I guess it will do the job fine.

The G2 has 8 patch variations. All settings can be changed (except for modules and connections )in each variation, meaning they are essentially different programs. Switching between the 8 variations with midi CC70 is instant. IIRC, the G1 doesn’t have patch variations.

pulsn did that in a very similar thread.

I seem to recall the MnM program change being pretty snappy when sequenced from the Digitakt. Nice to get those probability possibilities on the MnM.

I also used a Digitakt channel for program change of an Eventide H9 per step which worked nicely too (if chaos is your thing that is).

Wow that’s very helpful. Not sure how I missed, thanks!

AFX mode?

All the 80-90s Yamaha FM instruments I had, and I had some of them brother! - changed programs on a dime. Perfect implementation.

I dont have one but I’m sure Norand Mono handles this.

But nothing I’ve had matches my AnalogKeys. Played the hell out of it for two years now and that thing just does not know how to glitch, it’s amazing. Rock solid.

Yep, didn’t exist in 2017 though!

Also, Sub Phatty does fast changes. I’m on a gig with it now, midi’d from my Roland and it changes like lightning

What are walkaround for this? Would love 2 know!

Maybe someone knows a SAMPLER which will do this thing well? (as compact as possible please : )

Digitakt? Can sequence sample locks x8, it’s also very compact.

You can change patterns with MIDI CC but not Program Change. You could either use it as a sound module or this way or slave the internal sequence to something, but you’d be limited to 16 pattern changes before having to change projects, and it has 1 MIDI channel it can receive on only.

Yeah… but I want to sequence it FROM DT which I have already : )

Didn’t know that it’s possible to change pattern via CC. Need to read manual again… Thanks!

It’s actually a note, not a CC
