What’s eating Native Instruments?

My fervent hopes for Komplete Kontrol 3.0:

  1. Resizable window.
  2. MPE

In that order.

sounds like the NI are pulling a Kemper aka Virus

Yep.
And resizable without a file hack.

From the NI forum:

“Komplete Kontrol 3 is coming in the next few weeks, and has a whole bunch of improvements, including support for HiDPI and host plug-in resizing. That said, Komplete Kontrol itself does not resize, other than to fit the host plug-ins size”

I imagine it’s tricky to make a host consistent when the plugins that run inside it can be a vast array of sizes. But as long as we get access to that Kontakt style browser as it looks like on the images, it should be a good step from the current KK2.

Where are the images of the new Komplete Kontrol?

9 years of product support for the original MK1 (released 2014), is actually good for NI. Well, when you consider Kore/Kore 2 (2006 - 2011).

It’s surprising that the MK3 says these ones are built to last. I mean, I’m hoping they will especially after ordering one, but… You know, Kore happened.

I love that these are Midi 2.0, so there’s hope of a decent lifespan, but technology being what it is, you just can’t be too sure. That’s always the biggest problem when something like this that requires external software dependencies.

KK3 should be in your Native Access as of now folks. Having a quick look at the moment… Browsing certainly just got a lot easier.

Woo! Thanks for the heads up!

I got this on Windows- Bloody NI!

Definitely going to take a lot to bring me back into the fold but glad to see movement at NI. Was tempted by the super low prices for second hand Plus units but I’m over it now. Just interested to see where they take Maschine or if they release an all new DAW.

Lol. Classic.

Anyone else on windows tried it?

I am waiting for the internet to go first on all platforms. :grimacing:

Just tried again, downloaded and installed this time…something updated maybe.
Not much seems to have changed…On a MK2 anyway.

What I would most like to know is whether poly aftertouch is working with Komplete Kontrol or not. It was advertised as a huge part of the mk3 upgrade, but the thread on KK 3.0 on the NI forum is… not very informative.

I wish I could figure out what it is in NTKDaemon that’s so bloody difficult to rewrite to M1/M2 native.

I tried (again, 6 months later) to install Native Access (M1 Native) to be able to install Massive/FM8/Reaktor/EFX (M1 Native) on my M1 (Rosetta free). Nope. NTKDaemon, a required pre-requisite for the Native Access installer still requires Rosetta.

Dev-included thread at NI has devs saying ‘just uninstall it’ (rosetta) --> that says it all, IMO. If you’re a dev, and you (apparently) think that uninstalling Rosetta is just ‘drag it from the Applications folder to the trash’ rather than what uninstalling Rosetta ACTUALLY requires, you’re a hack. And if you are seriously recommending that to possibly novice-level computer folks who will just blindly find a thread about uninstalling Rosetta without the possible accidental consequences that can happen when you’re root on a Unix system, you’re just irresponsible.

I mean, I know HOW to uninstall Rosetta, but I only want Massive and FM8 really, and now that I have a hardware wavetable and an analog, and various other FM bits, I just don’t feel like it

I wouldn’t buy anything from NI. I don’t care what the advertised specs are. They don’t have a dev brain-trust at all. They CAN’T deliver what they promise.

They’re a sample retailer, nothing more.

NI has rebooted Komplete Start. Now has Raum and few one off instruments for Kontakt, with an emphasis on the iZotope tie in. Not sure if the Reaktor stuff has been removed, but it looks like it.

Fun fact, installing it messes with your iZotope installer if you already have Vinyl there. Some hoops to jump through still here I think.

I see the new version of Kontakt NI had added an ‘advertising’ window to encourage users to buy new sandbanks! There were a lot of complaints apparently and NI have backed down and now at least give an option to ‘hide’ the advertising panel…but it is pretty obvious where there development priorities are!

Yeah I think this is both a strange move - but frankly this is also NI catching up with other providers. Arturia is a great example. I really enjoy V Collection, yet when you open Analog Lab, you get a notification and the ability to buy sounds & packs directly in the app. Similar story with the new Current synth. NI is more janky because you have to launchyour browser, go to the store etc etc…
