Love it.
I think dog walking should be more represented in hip hop generally.

Not gonna lie; I read this and thought, “Oh no…” But I’m shamed by my knee-jerk reaction because the result is simply marvelous! I love this track.
I’m glad you like it.
I should have added, “make it less diatonic without being atonal noise” ![]()
I made this horror score-type song for week one. All non-percussive sounds are manipulations of my own vocal samples
Cripes, I nearly wet my pants when I fired that off!
NIN vibes, cool!
Very very cool fella, well done ![]()
Here’s my week #3. It’s my best attempt at an @Eaves -like “All A4, one take, no overdubbing, twiddling macros” type thing.
This might have turned out it was more fun for me than it is for the listener, and I think I had a better take or two in me. But then it was Sunday and I ran out of time ![]()
I really love the A4. Footprint sounds, and that is great. Pretty nice outcome this track, i like the ‘go with the flow’ approach. My first Machinedrum track (week 2) was kinda like that. Just twisting some parameters and doing the ctrl all kinda stuff.
Second Machinedrum track is a more worked out one. I had more time to do some more sounddesign, composition was a bit quickly worked out because i spend to much time on the sounddesign part. I had no time this weekend so it needed to be finished before friday
The fact that you run out of time is pretty good, just send it in, why not!
This is my song for this week:
Continuing to explore the levels of my imaginary computer game.
This time we are exploring a mysterious forrest.
Again trying to keep in the chiptune constraint of 3 mono voices.
This time I was trying to write a melody that was over chords that moved from major to minor (It’s a C major to C diminished vamp as the main part) and then some other diminished chords on the turn around. I’m very proud of the triplet part of the melody.
It’s again very influenced by Zelda.
I’d say the time spent in sound design shows through. The track is just so enjoyable to listen to. This is… not always the case with MD music ![]()
For sure! This is the Weekly Beats super power. It’s what lets me focus on me and what expression feels positive instead of the track and how it (doesn’t) stack up vs. all the amazing talent around here — never mind the vast world of music, generally.
I can’t think of two more creatively freeing words than “Why not?”
More (pseudo-)chip tunes this week.
Forlorn
omg this is so good
really emotionally evocative
This week I made a spooky acid track
Last week I made some indie folk with vocals
Pretty cool! I like the vibe on this one. Nice vid as well
I did another machinedrum track.
Very good vibes, especially after the snare comes in. Love the detuning on the bells/chords
Welcome to week 6! We’re officially out of Jamuary… I wonder if that will mean more or less attention for WB? Regardless, here’s my latest, fresh from an M8 and hopefully the last I have to do from a train for a while:
Gumshoe
The theme music to the imaginary 80’s cop show “Hover Cop” a hard bitten detective solves crime and upholds justice using his high tech hovercraft.
The track is heavily based on the Air Wolf theme along with an influence by the song Runaway by Dakota which features as the theme song to a Danny MacAskill video and Phil Colins and other songs of the 80’s which feature a pedal bass.
In terms of composition the track is making heavy use of a pedaled A around which the other instruments vamp. The main bit of interest is the end of the B section which uses a “Neopolitan” chord to create the overblown dramatic transition into the solo.
In terms of production it was made in Bitwig. All synths are Synapse Audio Obsession which is a brilliant Oberheim emulator. Guitars are all via Neural Rabea which I used for the first time and I’m very impressed with.
