Wake-up alarms recommendations

Here’s a thread for sharing tunes that work especially well as alarms in the morning.

I’ll start with this one :

It never gets boring or annoying, it’s chill and upbeat at the same time and puts you in a good mood. I recommend starting it at 0:41 so you can chill to the beat for a sec and really wake up when the horns kick in. 10/10.

Second recommendation is this :

Bit more of a risky one as you may start to trip balls inside of your dreams instead of waking up if you’re a deep sleeper lol. More of a slow burn kind of wake-up if you’re into that. Just like the other one, it doesn’t get boring morning after morning but ymmv. I rate it a solid 9/10 (as an alarm clock, 10/10 otherwise). Lost a point for making you want to dream a bit longer than you should.

I’ve always liked ZZTop’s Cheap Sunglasses as an alarm, gets the day started on a pretty cool foot

I’m immune to any iPhone alarms by now so I have to use a video alarm website with 1 hour long compilations of imperial marches, 90s atmo dnb or old Formula 1 broadcasts:

I’ve got a bunch of old Thunderdome compilations set to go off at 7am on random and very loud.

It’s how I’ve woken up every morning since the mid 90’s.

Here’s a couple of highlights.

I’ve been using this track as my morning alarm clock for quite some time now. I like how it slowly builds up and gently wakes you from sleep.

I’ve spent so much time just trying to find the right one…

if anyone wants, i’ll record my 9 year old son smashing around upstairs in his room at 5 am. it’s effective but not musical. let me know.

I just wake up to random stations on the radio. This morning it was death metal. Hilarious. Really got me going lol

If it’s not goats bleating at sunrise then it’ll be the neighbours’ really irritating dogs trying to kill each other or anything coming within a few tens of metres of their home, or one or other of the cats demanding food and digging claws in; failing that, the sound of some Juno-60 arpeggio recordings from my phone.

Vice versa my 14 y.o. girl stomping around at 7am, smashing around school books, with breaks of hot air drying hair on full speed.

Slightly off-topic, but when I was a kid, my wake up was a mechanical clock with a timer that would trigger a Garrard turntable to drop The Beatles « Back in the USSR » (at least I remember that choice) at eardrum-shattering levels. It worked well …

I wake up to the radio blasting a local pop station at full volume. (Poor speaker in the clock clips every time). It is extremely effective. Also try Mariachi, works just as well when played too loud at 7 am. :joy: (Not dissing Mariachi tho, it’s better than the pop station that’s for sure).
